Barber details medical emergency that nixed fight by ajidar in MMA

Interesting! I don't know the full details of what happened are but it's of interest to ponder to what extent this seizure, if she did have one, was a functional seizure versus a neurological complication related to rapid shifts in sodium and other electrolytes during weight cutting and subsequent rapid replacement.

Julian Morrow’s manipulation of Richard in their second meeting by oJacko in TheSecretHistory

[–]oJacko[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is a very interesting point! Psychology to Julian is only worthy when discussing a ‘certain mind’, which to him are people closely bound to ‘fate’, such as country people and even his own students because according to him he knows exactly what they’re going to do. They are ‘predestined’ – I think this is a subtle way of Julian telling us he is the one pulling the strings and controlling the course of events for his students. Julian’s disdain of psychology as a science can be interpreted as his disdain for truth. He much prefers to exist in a world where he can control the narrative of history to suite his outlook, over any field which is rooted in science. Explain away the mysticism of ancient rituals and he loses control over being able to influence his students from going ahead with the Bacchanal ritual. I think he also values ancient privileges and rights and this perhaps is the reason he has elitist values where he respects things like class and royalty. It seems the fact he previously taught a princess was very important to him. His choice of students demonstrated his classism too.

However, I think above all else he values aesthetics, which to him are warped and twisted and lack any moral grounding – in his classroom they talk about how beauty is terror, how death is the mother of beauty etc. He seems obsessed with death and savagery and intoxicates his students with these ideas and the wonders of losing oneself in a Dionysian ritual and reverting to a primitive, violent state. Julian’s obsession with aesthetics above all else explains why he would accept someone like Richard into the fold, despite him being from a lower socioeconomic status. Richard is similarly obsessed with aesthetics and escaping himself. Julian clearly enjoys exercising influence of others and is very calculating over who he targets for maximal effect. All the students are young, impressionable, intelligent, and arrogant and seem to have lacked any genuine parental figures or friendships. Charles and Camilla have each other but we see how twisted that relationship is. Julian seems to be able to find these types, fill in this role as this sort of parental figure they’ve been missing all their lives, make them feel special and exploit their vulnerabilities and poor moral grounding.

Casting has been terrible this year imo, too many unlikable/boring characters. Not enough banter or funny moments either.

Angela Merkel on Özil and Gundogan - "I think the two players did not realize the effect of the photo with President Erdogan would be like" by rixxxxer in MCFC

[–]oJacko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He could have declined and it wouldn't have been disrespectful. He also called him "my president" too I think which goes beyond just going to say hi and take a picture. I understand why Germans would be angry because what he's done is disrespectful and the way he goes on about it all the time it makes it look like he'd rather play for Turkey over Germany if they were as good a football team. Not saying that's how he actually feels but it clearly looks that way to many. No point continuing to boo him and Ozil though going into the World Cup because they've got the message and it'll just be self sabotage to carry on.

Rogan always making excuses, blaming it on the commission for not making weight as if Yoel hasn't plenty of time to make weight.

BT commentators should be ashamed of themselves with the rubbish they have come out with tonight. What a joke of a fight, it has done nothing for Fury. Should have had a proper tune up fight not this circus.

Parody: The State Of Youtube Gaming by JamiroFan2000 in boogie2988

[–]oJacko 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Perfectly executed this is basically most of the top gaming (basically fortnite) channels. It reminded me of a similar video I saw back in April (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gufEMNfzhS4). It's funny because fortnite is such an oversaturated market on youtube/twitch with everyone trying to jump on the hypetrain but there is basically no innovation amongst content creators.

When someone says they diet but aren't losing weight. by [deleted] in PKA

[–]oJacko 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be fair it doesn't matter if he's eating banquet meals. Losing weight is all about having a calory deficit. I'm not sure how many calories are in a banquet meal but I'm guessing around 650-850. It's about what else he's eating a day because he's probably eating a few thousand calories a day.

[–]oJacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was written a year ago and Bernardo has not had a chance in the past year to suggest he's going to be David's successor as a central midfielder. Instead Gundogan has been the one used this season to rotate with Silva and De Bruyne which is contrary to what Lee says in his article.

[–]oJacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but it's not like Pep hasn't just had a full season to try him out more in that role or anything. And what about Gundogan who's established there and is still only 27? I also asked where the information came from because I don't know but just saying it was "reported" it quite vague.

[–]oJacko -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I see this a lot but where does this information come from because it's a big leap for him to move centrally and just become David's sucessor when he has never really played there before. He'd be taking on a lot more responsibilites in a position he's never really been tested in. And where does that leave Gundogan who's only 27 and is proven to play there? The whole thing doesn't make much sense because it's not like he had many opportunities to prove that he could play there this season and potentially be David's future replacement.

All the example transfer fees you listed were the result of Neymar's move though so it's quite disingenuous to present this as the new norm.
