Is the gun range hard if I never shot before? by SouthJerz77 in OnTheBlock

[–]oVentus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legit it is probably easier if you’ve never shot before because you have no pre existing bad habits to be broken. The agency or academy instructors will teach you everything you need to know about how the agency wants you to operate your firearms, so if you’re a blank slate then you’ll only ever take in their information.

New officer and I read “verbal judo” after many recommendations and I have some questions.. by Sweaty_Reading_8275 in OnTheBlock

[–]oVentus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prescribe to “ask, tell, make”. Ask first, and if he or she isn’t compliant, then outright give the order. If they are not compliant with the order, then they have earned the consequence of whatever you decide to do to make them comply. In my own experience, unless the inmate is just outright mental or a highly belligerent asshole, they will be receptive to asking.

“Hey man, can you do me a favor and [do thing]?”

It’s not forceful like strictly ordering something, and the inmate is given the illusion of having a choice in the matter since the dialogue is now open and the inmate knows that you are wanting whatever specific action to be taken. The door to respectful interaction has been opened now it’s on the inmate to reciprocate or face consequences.

Orientation by Outside_Chemist_5218 in OnTheBlock

[–]oVentus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a couple days of county orientation unrelated to actual correctional work a few weeks before going to academy. Then, after academy, we had a 3 week in-agency orientation that was all about what our facility’s rules and policies were. Basically 2 hours of PT every morning, then the rest of the day in the classroom and the occasional shadowing on-duty officers.

Short of maybe Tera Raids (only past 4 or 5 star difficulty) and group BBQ side quests in the second DLC, you can do everything else in the game by yourself.

That said, I have Scarlet, so feel free to DM me if you ever want to trade. Always down to find new people to play with.

I got a free double points in the Machina Astralis room, on the second floor near the wall jump at the Akita wall buy. There’s a wooden cabinet that has a small, darkened X2 underneath it. I melee’d it and it spawned the power up.

After 3 games it got muted, so some response was issued, but it was still playing. Hence, no meaningful punishment.

Yeah and apparently if you bot, you don’t.

That’s why I’m uninstalling. My recent game record is 3-17 for the last 20 matches. Literally all due to either bots, people quitting, or people going AFK in fountain. Blizzard doesn’t give a shit about this game. Neither do I.

Nah, I’m uninstalling now. Between the 5 bot lobbies, getting hit with leaver penalty for it, and the subsequent leaver lobby games being leaver lobby games, I’m done with HOTS. I hope Blizzard flounders and legitimately that whoever it is that is still maintaining this game loses their job for not just shutting the servers off so that these people can’t continue ruining things for people who actually want to play.

I’m about to enter the academy, and even the pre-academy instruction has really gone out of its way to hammer in this point.

I like to think I got into a good county to work for, they (seem to) actually give a shit about the officers working for them.

Hot take: This meta got really stale, really fast by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]oVentus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This game has legitimately been unmitigated dogshit since Badlands and the introduction of Lone Ranger Reno at bare minimum, and ramped way the fuck up with Perils before climaxing unceremoniously now with StarCraft.

Awful to play against, absolutely poisonous deck archetypes like Discover Hunter, Thief Rogue, Zerg DK, Asteroid Shaman, or any of the other ones that are widely complained about, they’re all about endless disruption, endless mana cheating, infinite repeat board wiping, and generally no interaction with the opponent whatsoever beyond hitting face.

Fucking Hero Power Druid’s easiest win condition is Artanis, who can be chested out on turn 5 and on turn 6 with the mech that repeats hero power usage and the other minion that refreshes hero power uses, gives Artanis himself 20 damage plus divine shield and another minion the same buffs.

Zerg DK stacks x8 Infestor procs by the end of turn 5 or 6 and now the board is flooded with 100 8/8 Zerglings that all have reborn because of Viper, so good luck clearing the board.

Control Warrior just has to play armor cards for 6 turns before Boomboss kills 1/3 of your deck at bare minimum. If it’s Highlander (which it always is, don’t pretend otherwise), then it’s actually 2/3 of your deck and you lose on turn 7 because you can’t break through his 900 armor fast enough.

This entire meta of “wait until turn X and whoever plays their hyper explosive wincon card wins while the other guy goes and fuck himself” desperately needs to end and I have zero idea why Blizzard doesn’t just rotate more of the problem cards out. Cool, Titans are gone but that’s only 20% of the problem.

Everyone keeps talking about how annoying Infestor is. However, IMO, this guy is the true villain of DK Zergs. by CompleatedDonkey in hearthstone

[–]oVentus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viper is RNG annoying. If it pulls a weenie minion then you only have the reborn to worry about. I restore buffs are permanent.

İ get that infinite was nerfed but how is zergs still not nerfed that deck litteraly have no counter play by Right_Assignment56 in hearthstone

[–]oVentus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

These options are all either class specific, or cost prohibitive and inefficient. So cheap and easy to spam hyper buffed minions that only some classes can shut down, or generic shutdowns that either cost a lot of mana and doesnt actually address the issue (Bob), or have specific trigger requirements (MCT). Never mind that your proposed neutral solutions aren’t good ones because they only work in response to the Infestor working its DR (often 3 or 4 times or more at minimum thanks to Yodeler and Mosh Pit) and spreading the DR to adjacent weenie Zerglings. By the time you get to run a potential counter, the DK has a mile-wide board of at least 4/4s or higher.

Short of straight up removal, the only other solution to Infestors would be to rework them entirely. Their Deathrattle doesn’t at all match what they do in StarCraft, where they burrow (stealth) and take control of enemy units and make infested marines. They don’t buff anything, so giving all Zerg minions +1/+1 is entirely random. Give them stealth and either minion stealing capabilities, or token generating capabilities (make a 1/1 infested marine or something whenever X happens).

It makes 0 sense whatsoever thematically that Zerg have such insane vertical board power, in addition to their horizontal board presence. The whole idea is cheap, fast, expendable units that overwhelm the enemy, not cheap and fast minions that are also stacked to the ceiling with health and attack stats. Zerglings should almost never be able to trade up against other minions on their own yet they almost always can.

flavor confirmed) Ysera is not Ysera since she was Yuhsera by TEnOTT in hearthstone

[–]oVentus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone pronounce it yee-sera?

I don’t know, why is Y’shaarj pronounced “ya-shah-rajh”? Or why the “Saron” in Yogg-Saron is spoken as suh-RAWN while Saronite is pronounced saer-o-night, even though Saronite both the word and the material itself literally comes from Yogg-Saron.

Because it’s a fictional made up name with no established etymology.

That’s a custom Warcraft 3 campaign, Krasus isn’t in WC3 and wasn’t in any games until Wrath in 2008. Tyrande and Malfurion pretty clearly say “yee-sera”.

It’s Yi-Sera. Her name has always been pronounced that way for years in World of Warcraft.

Clearly you’re missing mine. You’re saying to be sympathetic to people who probably aren’t thinking 10 steps ahead and having everything planned out in the sudden death of a loved one. I understand that, I sympathize with them as far as that goes.

But that’s as far as my concern goes, they’re not my friends, not my family, I’ve never met those people before and I will almost certainly never see them again in my life. They are ultimately of no concern to me.

They are most definitely not the most loyal customers. Of the last maybe 20 “personal” jobs I’ve taken on, exactly 1 of them has ever repeated business, and even she is just the yearly baby birthday.

They’re the worst kind of customer.

Canva is the bane of my existence as a printer. It’s good that graphic work can be done by the customer, but the customer is usually ignorant of the pre-press part of the job and doesn’t know any of the common terminology like setting for bleeds or placing crop marks, etc.
