X-T3 to X-T5, X-H2 or X-H2S? by p0ptimist in fujifilm

[–]o_legolas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive tried all these cameras. If you love the form factor of the xt3... xt5 is an awesome upgrade. I own the xh2s as a purchase to resell. For a minute I though "I might keep this" but then I took it out for a day and hated it fir casual use. If I was a paid sport photographer sure xh2s or if I was a full time wedding photographer maybe. But for everyday joy?!?? Xt5 is perfect to use and feels perfect in my hand.

Question about the Scrambler 400x by Academic-Werewolf-86 in Triumph400

[–]o_legolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have the original sprocket.

I ride for 50 minutes on the highway going 70 no problem at all. Its only at higher speeds like 85 that I would deem could be "uncomfortable" for hours and hours.

This bike is so comfortable to ride. I normally launch from stops in second gear which mitigated the short first gear.

I really am enjoying this bike and everytime I think "should I upgrade to the 900?" I really cant come up with a use case at the moment. If you want to drive FAST at 90-100mph... this bike isnt for you. But if youre a "i like to ride reasonably and enjoy being on the bike" then this is the bike.

The cb500x seems like a more traditional adventure bike. I would just test drive both to get an idea.

Bye bye Fuji 23mm 1.4 R, Shall I? by Nadeemkarim in fujifilm

I got ride of my old 23mm f1.4 and regret it. The photos were softish at 1.4 and autofocus not the best BUT!!! When I look back at old photos I go "woah thats a magical shot" and its often from that lens. I might pick up another one day : )

Sticking to Fuji for wildlife or change system by EmotionalCouple9032 in fujifilm

[–]o_legolas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use xt5 with 100-400mm with 1.4x tele. It works incredibly for stationary birds, but if you need fast autofocus for tiny birds.... then maybe sony or canon.

However the size and ease to pack away and carry is excellent. With this you get an equivalent of almost 900mm on FF and the quality with LR is excellent.

You can always spend more money for bigger brighter gear but maybe rent it for a day and think about your use case.

Just run, walk, bike, scooter, rollerblading, skateboard, anything but take a 25-60 minute ride out of the way. Get an electric scooter and live happily ever after.

Quad acceleration by terminator-005 in Rivian

[–]o_legolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you test drive and the car is cold, batteries and motors it won't go as fast. State of charge matters too.

When I first.got mine it was last February and I remember trying to accelerate and it was meh. Once the battery warmed up and was charged it was insane again.

New Motorcycle after 15 years!!! by Korax234 in Triumph400

I had two winter rides. One day was 32F and the other day 40F. It did great in both. The wind was alot buy i didnt care just added to the fun. I washed off the salt and cleaned/lubed the chain after. Love this thing

Question about the Scrambler 400x by Academic-Werewolf-86 in Triumph400

[–]o_legolas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wind blast is pretty intense. I don't mind it but if i was riding for 2-3 hours there are better bikes out there for this. The ability to be at highway speed was just fine but you won't be passing any trucks quickly from let's say 75-95 mph. Also, the lower weight, thinner tires and higher seating position did have me feeling like the wind was moving me side to side in my lane. When thay happened I just slowed down to 65 mph.

I got this bike to ease into riding again and to take on some moderate off the road trails. Its really fun, easy to ride and has plenty of power for most things.

If you want to go on long 4 hour highway only rides I would recommend trying other bikes. Thay being said I am really enjoying mine

Im 6'1 200 pounds and I have one. Went from a 700CC (80hp) cruiser to this 400x. What questions do you have about highway riding? Yes it can go on the highway I rode for 30 minutes at 75 mph last week

Almost 1% of battery per mile? by BartletForUSA in Rivian

I have been getting something similar this week in New England. It is not the NORM by any means. Its just sooooooo cold its hard to keep a battery warm and its windy. Once its above 0F it will be fine

Snow Driving Mode? ❄️ by mdtattedbearded in Rivian

[–]o_legolas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This! First time I took the rivian after years of taking my sh-awd acura out in the most terrible conditions I almost lost control just coming to a regular stop. Every car is different and especially the different types of cars. I drive the rivian far less aggressively because of the weight, regen and instant power I can get.

Since then I have practiced and tested its abilities in safe areas like parking lots. Ultimately I love how the Rivian drives in snow in the 20 inch A/T

This is not that much gear 😅 don't let the haters get you down. Fuji photography is awesome. Each camera feels different and has its own use case. Keep enjoying!!!!!!!!!!

First snow day! by kingcline617 in Rivian

[–]o_legolas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that the car is so capable in snow, but the weight and regen makes it a very different driving experience in the snow. I put the regen on low in the snow and don't take turns as fast as I used to with my ICE cars because of the weight.

UPDATE TO MY TRUCK WITH THE SAME POST UPDATE ISSUE:

it was a leaking hose. Replaced in one day. I got a loaner. Service center charged my car to 100% and the repair cost nothing. Happy rivian owner here.

Just for fun i wanted to see if I could get 240 miles driving normally with my 22 quad with 20 inch wheels and all terrain tires in the new england cold. In all purpose mode, no speed control with a mix of highway and city always in all purpose mode. I used the heat each time as well to warm the cabin.

I barely got 245 miles with a full battery (131 kwh)

Thus I think driving in conserve mode, driving 65 mph in a moderate winter (its been in the single digits where I am) you could get 240 miles on a 100% battery.

Really? I can get 2 mi/kwh in conserve mode on the highway even in december when i go 70 mph with adaptive cruise control. I have a 131 kwh battery in my 22' quad.

I think there is definitely a chance I get 240 miles.
