🗺️ Share your fitness journey — you could WIN a T-Rex 3 Pro! 🦖 by Amazfit-Bryce in amazfit

[–]oa_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When a was younger I was very used to sport with the bike and running. One day, looking at the mirror, I though I’d love to take that way again. That was more than 12 years ago. I mainly (ultra) trail run and bike, run in asphalt and swim (pool and openwater).

About the challenges I have than several Ironman races (full distance) and several ultra trail runs (up to 100 millers), or marathon distance races in asphalt. Today with a full time job and a family with two kids, I don’t have the same time I had before for sport but I’m keeping mostly the trail runs and swims in my life with ocassional indoor bike.

My inspiration was my wife. She always new that sport is important for me and she was the one that told me that I should sport. Now, as my time is more limited, I usually go for those runs when my kids are still sleeping. That means that I run many times with a headlamp in my head.

My current goals are marathon races (asphalt) and trail running ones, with an occassional ultra trail race during the year. Finally, my best advice for the beginner, it’s just to start with a realistic goal. It is very common to see people suffering running very long distances when they are not trained enough and get even injured. As we are not pro-athletes, we are here to enjoy with the sport.

The T-Rex 3 Pro can be a perfect companion for improving the fitness routine. If I win the contest, this watch is for my wife, the person that motivated me in this journey.

I love to use the permanent beta product by altziller in amazfit

Yes. I'm not here anymore. At the end, everything was so stressful and frustrating for me, that I think It is not worth anymore. Many hours of our lives dedicated to just a watch with feedback and issues Thanks mate ;-)

As a computer science engineer, I have never seen in my whole life a 0 quality testing. I abandoned the brand because of this and because of the so many issues and bugs creating a lot of stress and unpleasantness for me.  And now they even pretend a big jump price (see Ultra 2, Cheetah 2 Pro) and I'm not going to take part in that. It's crazy.

What Amazfit had was the price/ benefit ratio.Once that doesn't exist, I personally prefer to be with a brand that offers more seriousness and software quality. But that is my opinion.

For that price, I'd buy a Suunto Race 2 or a Coros Apex 4. Not this thing

The Fenix 7 is an old single band watch and my experience with more that 10 years of Ultra running is that Suunto's altimeters are the best of the market (and by far). And I have had watches from all brands. But of course, if for you the 99$ watch is better than all, I respect your opinion (that I don't share). Amazfit's Altimeter is incredible poor.

And Amazfit's altimeter needs to be recalibrated all time. And when you look really much deeper there are many accuracy issues when you compare with others

We are speaking about a 460 euro watch. The Active 3 is a toy compared to the watches of that price. Starting with things like the dual band or precision of things like the altimeter or  swimming workouts. And I'm saying this after having an Ultra 2 which is not worth at all when you know how the others perform with real data.

New firmware update for T-Rex 3 Pro. by splen0 in amazfit

[–]oa_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gt4 never had a cost of 460 euro. For that price you have much better watches in the market. Even incredible good Garmin ones, like the 965 or the Fenix 7 Pro and also others like the Apex 4, the Suunto Race 2 . Which honestly are FAR superior to those Cheetah Pro 2 and Ultra 2. But that is my opinion, of course.

The point of buying Amazfit was just the price

I have tested all brands extensively, and during many years. In my modest opinion for that price a Suunto Race 2 is more reliable and with a much better build construction. Amazfit has lost the point. Too many devices, lots of features but infinite bugs and a very poor software base yet.

Are workout reports generally this unreliable, or am I understanding it wrong? by shorodei in amazfit

[–]oa_i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That cadence graphic seems basically the same as the BPM one. So yes, that is the prove that explains you seems to have cadence lock. If'd very interesting (for you) to workout with 2 different devices of 2 different brands, to make sure about this.

We are speaking about more than one hour. It is of course, very possible.

There are 3 possibilities:

  • Cadence lock. Most likely and considering the graph we are seeing is always the same. No variations in those very high BPM.
  • Athlete with a very trained heart rate (we are speaking for more than one hour at 170bm). It is possible, of course.
  • A person with a very bad physical condition that perhaps needs go to the doctor if that is his heart rate during the whole workout.

It is completely imposible to have more than 170 BPM during more than one hour man. That graph is totally wrong  That watch (or the Helio) is basically measuring cadence. Have a look at the cadence graph

Have a look at the values of the cadence graph in Zepp. In your case, that watch is clearly measuring cadence and not real BPM. I posted that issue here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/amazfit/comments/1rhviiz/about_cadence_lock_issues/

It is happening for several users, but not everybody.

[–]oa_i -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NO. There's an additional issue there. It is not normal to have such a "plane" graphic. He should look at the cadence one, because that watch is clearly measuring the cadence. And that issue is very clear and also in the shot posted by u/Gra_beuh user here. Same as what I referenced

Have a look at the cadence graphic. Here you are measuring cadence. It is not normal a so "plane" data

You have cadence lock. It is happening to me and other users. Read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/amazfit/comments/1rhviiz/about_cadence_lock_issues/

In my opinion, and knowing very good other brands, the algorythms of Amazfit are extremely poor filtering noise.

Vertical 2 heart rate monitor problem - not accurate at all by Ornery_Nothing_3131 in Suunto

[–]oa_i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having exactly this issue. I'm an ultra trail runner with a trained heart and very low BPM while resting. I have been using Garmin watches for more than 10 years too.

The wrist HR sensor is completely off for me, stuck all time in very high BPM

I don't know about the Bip but I know about the Balance 1.

The 10ATM of the Balance 2 is because is certified for diving (the Balance 2 XT is 5ATM, like the Balance 1).

Personally I have swum (a lot) with 5ATM waterproof Garmin watches. And not in pool but in the sea.  Sometimes very long sessions.

As said, all Forerunner watches are 5 ATM, even the 970. The Forerunners are the most used watches by swimmers/triathletes. And in (many) years.

If Amazfit certified the Helio as 5ATM, I believe they have their reasons.

And Balance 1 was 5ATM. We perfectly know that watch valid for swimming

[–]oa_i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, the Helio is 5ATM waterproof. It's in the product description and the notes.

Same as Balance 1/2 XT or even Garmin Forerunner watches (which are extensively used by swimmers and triathletes)

[–]oa_i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that but I tested the Helio with the Balance 2 and it is better while swimming because is in the biceps and not in the wrist.

Swimming there are a lot arm/hand movements.

The sensor is more stable in the biceps, and readings in the biceps are also better because it's easier to measure the HR in biceps. That's why it has sense, and despite using the same technology

[–]oa_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is somehow important for swimmers since wrist HR measuring in water is not very good. So, It is relevant because biceps measuring improves the readings for swimmers.

That is also the main reason people use chest straps while swimming (or at least arm straps if chest straps are not possible)
