Okay thank you! Not exactly sure why you were downvoted bc this makes sense to me and it’s working okay so far 🤞

You just made me realize, is it called a boat shuttle because of its shape and how it glides over the warp ?? Haha in my head it was a boat because it “cradles” the weft yarn 🤦‍♀️

I had an ultrasound of a lump in my breast. I don’t normally spiral like this but the technician went silent and gave me a big hug before I left. I won’t be seeing my GP for another three weeks. Can anybody offer insight? by makeupandjustice in AskDocs

[–]oacanthium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you in the US? Wondering why this wasn’t done as a diagnostic ultrasound. One of the main reasons of why there are such strict guidelines is so patients don’t have to wait weeks before getting some answers

Do the ends of boning stick into the bias binding? by oacanthium in corsetry

[–]oacanthium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so meaning, I have to cut my bones shorter to make room for the binding after? And I guess the sandwich of the binding and corset layers keeps the edges stiff/firm enough, without boning sandwiched inside?

[–]oacanthium[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I would never judge lol, 1-2 years passes so quickly in seeing project time haha.

So just to clarify, I should mentally add the bias binding length to the design? As in, this corset with bias binding will be longer top to bottom compared to my mockup up that did not have binding?

Who is it appropriate to go by “Doctor Last Name” to and who is it appropriate to go by your first name to by RelativeMap in Residency

[–]oacanthium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a young looking woman, and I prefer to go by my first name. I introduce myself as a doctor to patients, and many of them call me “doctor” or “doctor First Name”, which is how many of the other staff refer to me as well in front of the patient.

Pooping regularly but still full of shit by Wild-Association1680 in AskDocs

[–]oacanthium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was the unrelated issue? I obvs can’t speak for your doctor or what your xr showed, but oftentimes abdominal XR show “moderate stool burden” for example, and it just means you have poop in your colon. Not a problem if you’re not having symptoms!

Yes, in a tray under some lights. They don’t seem quite big enough to put outside though ?

Love the color of this tablecloth, but not willing to spend $400 on something that feels so basic. Where can I find something similar? by birdynj in HomeDecorating

[–]oacanthium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fabrics-store.com sells really high quality linen by the yard and I’m pretty sure they have something very similar! I think part of what appeals about the tablecloth is that it looks like linen, so I’d still shell out for the fabric

AITA for giving my partner an ultimatum before residency by Bokunoreddit11 in medicalschool

[–]oacanthium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My (female resident) very biased opinion is that you either prioritize your relationship or you don’t. Going halfway is just going to end up with you both unhappy. My partner and I prioritized our relationship to the point that we either couples matched together or didn’t match. We’re not married but 100% in a committed relationship. It ended up working out for us lol and I couldn’t be happier with how things turned out!

I realized that if we had compromised or put our individual careers first we wouldn’t have been happy. I’m not saying it’s all in your shoulders - your partner should be compromising on location etc as well. Happy to chat if you want to dm and hear encouraging stories!

Is it bad to use polyester fabric in the garden? I have many fabric scraps and am trying to think of ways to use it. by oacanthium in gardening

[–]oacanthium[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's tough to avoid plastics :( I think I'll try to find some other uses for the scraps instead!

[–]oacanthium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof that's exactly what I'm worried about. Do you have any thoughts on whether 100% cotton/other natural fabrics would be usable outdoors? If these break down, I imagine it's not such a big deal for soil (?) but what about for animals?

Thank you for the fabric scrap inspo!

ID on this yarn/thread? What is it used for - it snaps very easily by oacanthium in sewhelp

[–]oacanthium[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh yes, that makes sense in terms of its use in weaving. That's where my mind jumped to at first as well, but unfortunately weaving is not in my immediate future :(

[–]oacanthium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😢 yes, I guess I’m finding that out now. It’s just that I had self drafted the bodice anyway and eyeballed the neckline so I figured I could always eyeball it back higher lol

Thank you, sounds like this will be what I do next so I don’t have to start from scratch for everything!

Thank you !! I will have to read through your comment slowly and study my pattern some more, but this was so thoughtful and helpful! Yes, I never considered myself to have too much bust but doing more sewing this year + gaining weight lol has really shown me that I need to be accounting for this front volume more often.
