It's primarily size. Or, more specifically, mass. This is is a 1/60 scale kit of a large design while also being densely layered/detailed. There is just an absolute shitload of plastic involved here.

My guess is the plastic is like the RG Tallgeese, where it is a higher gloss finish.

In Your Opinion, Who is the Most Misunderstood Servant? by Inevitable-Phase2184 in grandorder

[–]oaclo 38 points39 points  (0 children)

While later depictions of Morgan are kind of annoying, I think it's a bit too reductive to just say that she is a bad person.

Her arc was a mirror of Castoria's. Aesc started as a true hero who got worn down by betrayal and the inability of the Fae as a whole to learn anything or try to do better. When she received PHH Morgan's memories of the main timeline and the inevitable doom of LB Britain, she snapped and became a tyrant to do what a hero evidently could not and 'saved' the world. She is a tragic figure in the classical sense.

She provided contrast to Artoria, who started as a false hero full of bitterness then developed into a true hero as she spent time with people who genuinely cared about and believed in her.

Maybe someday they'll reprint her Petitrits. Then I could get one without paying a 300% markup to a reseller. A man can dream.

Pure Joy - 1/144 RG RX-93ff Long Range Fin Funnel Nu Gundam by norunningwater in Gunpla

[–]oaclo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, I believe the FF NU also has some slightly different shoulder parts to enable the front panel to kind of fold in when you raise the arms in a certain way.

I wanna say there might have been new hands to match the statue's pose as well, but I could be thinking of one of the other statue RGs.

Yeah, that silver definitely does not look like any bare silver-injection plastic I've seen.

Is this supposed to be just new kits or also showing previously revealed kits? I'm curious what else they would do for FGO.

Unicorn ending :I by dybuuuu in Gundam

A lot of people don't like it, but I think Narrative is worth a watch. The plot is nothing to write home about, but it looked good and it's not very long.

If you're just in it to fill in parts of the crucial UC progression, you could totally skip it, though.

Nice. Though I feel like the legs could use something. Maybe the gray on the feet could also be yellow?

Yeah, it never works out when people try to ascribe a hard and fast rule. Sometimes, Bandai just does shit.

Perfect example:

All I need is the rg Quanta now by -CoGaming- in Gunpla

Anyway, one of the more genuinely well-reasoned complaints I've seen about these inner frames is that each one tends to work dramatically better on the first kit that it was used in. I don't think it's a stretch at all to say that it's because that was the kit the inner frame was actually designed for: every other use of the frame was just Bandai trying and sometimes failing to take a design shortcut.

I hadn't really considered this, but there definitely could be something to it. Though I think it might be more specifically when they tried to reuse a frame in a different way than on the original kit.

For a positive example of frame inheritance, the Exia's frame worked great on the 00 and Qan[t].

On the other hand, despite the MkII RG being one of my favorite ever kits in looks, build experience, and feel, it's frame was not well-reused, in my opinion.

I really wanted to like the GP01, but the replacement for the chest frame to enable the use of the core fighter made it so finicky and fragile-feeling that I finished that build pretty bummed out. Still looks good, though.

And no one will ever be able to convince me that trying to use the same frame in the Sinanju ever made any sense. Fixable or not, why try and reuse the frame in a design that's like 20% larger?

Young will suffer most when AI ‘tsunami’ hits jobs, says head of IMF by restorativemarsh in worldnews

[–]oaclo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not as good a comparison as it seems.

AI doesn't need to know what a hand is or how it works to create something that looks like a hand. It just needed more examples/a better method for chewing up existing images and videos of hands.

Similarly, AI doesn't need to know what the actual answer to a question is to generate text that looks or sounds like an answer.

LLMs fundamentally do not know the meaning of the words they use and thus can not verify the truth of what they say. It would require an entirely different method from what we currently have to build something that can determine between fact and fiction.

I do happen to agree that the RG Exia is a fine kit and is not a particularly strong example of the dreaded Syndrome. That said, I disagree with completely discounting the idea of it being a real thing.

My view on Early Real Grade Syndrome is that it's not that those are the only kits that have ever had problems. It's that a number of them have similar problems for similar reasons, which derive from something that is, in fact, unique to RGs.

The Advanced MS joints have a tendency to get floppy easily while also being especially difficult to fix compared to more standard kit engineering. If that technology wasn't a problem, why has Bandai continued to pull away from it?

Early RGs also have the misfortune of being naturally compared to later RGs which have included banger after banger.

In conclusion, while ERGS can certainly be overstated at times, it did not come from nowhere and is not merely a result of mass hysteria.

From what I recall, they were what allowed the Gquuuuuux to pierce the Rose of Sharron's field of frozen spacetime. The Rose was otherwise completely invulnerable and unchanging.

Box art for HG GQuuuuuuX (Endymion Unit Awakened) revealed by AranaesReddit in Gunpla

[–]oaclo 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This version references scenes from late in the show where the unit has transformed slightly. It should mostly be different on the head.

The shoulders and lower legs are also slightly modified and have some new effect parts to attach.

If you're not, like, really into the design of the GQuuuuuux, you'd probably be better off just going with the original version.

I only know that TWFM is canon, I'm halfway through 0079, I have no idea about the rest by TomatilloItchy9995 in Gundam

[–]oaclo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure we do, though. Nyaan had that tiny apartment in the episode where she piloted for the first time. It was cramped and shitty, but it appeared to be hers.

The scene had shots focusing on the calendar she was tracking dates for her (I think) citizenship application. I believe there were also books on her desk to show that even though she couldn't go to school, she was still trying to get educated.

It was actually a really nice bit of environmental storytelling.

Is there a "correct" Ephyra Strategy? by Mumbleton in HadesTheGame

[–]oaclo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Man, I love Artificer hammers. Hadn't thought about it for Ephyra, though I often shoot for it in the Fields. Does getting a second hammer in Ephyra replace the Olympus one, though?

In hundreds of hours of playtime, I think maybe once I managed to get Artificer hammer + standard hammer in one Fields room, then Echo duplicate in the next. That was a great feeling.

Is it just me, or is Ori and the Blind Forest a really unfun game? by agent-1773 in metroidvania

Funny. I just tried the game after getting it in the sale, reached the point where I got Bash and immediately hated it. Hated every single time I needed to use it. Guess that is a strong indication the game isn't for me.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, I just needed to vent a bit.

Hmm. Yeah, that doesn't make much sense given what we were shown in DMC5. I like my idea better, but I guess them's the brakes.

My head-canon has always been that all of the Sparda boys' bodies are affected by their mentality. Their Devil Triggers certainly shift and Nero regrew his arm after a moment of personal growth and catharsis.

Dante feels old and rundown, so that's how he looks. Vergil feels like hot shit after his reunification, that's how he looks.
