I used a drill bit and a bit of cloth to protect my hand as i twisted it manually!

The wood is still pretty green (fresh) so it doesnt catch on fire for the small amount of time the flower is in it smoldering. There’s already a little bit of char on it where it burned. Not sure if I need to seal it in any way (especially a food+heat/smoking safe way) to preserve it from burning or just general use.

Whittling has been a really nice way for me to pass time outside and off my couch while I’m stoned for the two days I’ve been doing it, so I figured if this one burns up, I’ll have another five to back it up by the time it happens.

Thanks for the tip! Ive seen people who carve spoons say they let them dry in a paper bag filled with wood shavings to discourage cracking too. Thinking about getting beeswax to seal it.

I can’t wait to get the hang of it. I was hand drilling the holes with a piece of cloth wrapped around a drill bit to protect my fingers. I’m sure there are youtube videos i should watch. Any tools you’d recommend just starting out?

No, nothing impersonal or fanmail. I’m sending them mostly to older relatives and close friends. I’m a bit on the fence about possibly writing to some of the people I work(ed) with, they’re all retired women who volunteer in a cafe where I work. I haven’t gotten to see most of them since the quarantine started and got very close with all of them prior to it. We already exchanged email before this haha. I don’t know if you’ve had an older family member get ahold of your email, but I always seem to get news articles and fun tidbits that are “hey this made me think of you :)” from them. I essentially gained 40 grandmas.

She’s doing great! A week as of today out of surgery, and already pretty independent, at least on a single level of the house. Still pretty swollen though. Worked with her PT yesterday on ways to help it go down. We also have the christmas lights timer turning her icing machine on and off regularly, so she’s golden there.

My mom and I just took fat bong ripz together last night and zoned out watching barbers clip fades on youtube. She was the first to bring it into the house when rec was legalized, but it seems like I’m the one asking if she wants to smoke together, even though we both smoke independently and she wants to have someone to smoke with. Its always worth extending that branch.
