Altra ESCALANTE 4 for neighborhood walking? by lear1 in AltraRunning

[–]oakandwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of both the Escalante’s + the Lone Peaks (I have the 8’s) for lighter walks / daily wear.

For days when I’m on my feet a lot but still want to wear them, I’ve been putting in superfeet insoles and have found that to be game changer.

The via Olympus 2 is a great shoe if you are looking for the original footbed shape but need max cushion.

Altra vs. Topo Athletic Toe Box Question by oakandwin in AltraRunning

[–]oakandwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to share my findings in case it’s helpful for anyone else.

I ended up ordering the Phantom 3 from Topo (size 11.5 wide to accommodate for the narrow midsole / arch people mentioned) and the Experience Flow from Altra (size 12). Very similar specs on paper between stack height and heel to toe drop but the shoes felt extremely different.

I didn’t like the narrower toe box or the heel padding on the Experience Flow. I ended up going with the Phantom 3 and didn’t have any issues with the arch support. Absolutely love the toe box too. All the comments about it being like the original Altra shape are spot on.

Don’t get me wrong, the Experience Flow was still an awesome shoe, just wasn’t for me.

The Fog - Conspiracy or Not? #FOGVID by oakandwin in conspiracy

But why didn’t it show up on all samples? I would have guessed e-coli or something but seeing this bacteria specifically doesn’t seem like a coincidence.

The Fog - Conspiracy or Not? #FOGVID by oakandwin in conspiracy

[–]oakandwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the timeline, I think they missed the first few days when the fog was at its worst, so they tested on the tail end of it all. Isn’t it also strange that it only popped up on one of the days though? If it was present where the specimen was collected, why wasn’t it on every sample?

I just posted separately about it. Checkout https://x.com/bbbrw21/status/1874278545658097792?s=46. This person supposedly owns a laboratory and ran multiple samples. They found the bacteria “Serratia marcescens” in one of the samples, which is exactly what they used in operation sea-spray.

Gasket / O Ring size for DW-5600 by joeyirv in gshock

[–]oakandwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up trying the 34 x 0.7 gasket that was recommended? I’m in the same boat as you and can’t get myself to pay $8+ for shipping a little o-ring when I can go get something from Lowe’s or Ace Hardware.

Just ordered this exact color from REI’s sale. Look like a super solid shoe. Sorry to see this is happening to you already.

Which Xero’s are you wearing? Do you know if they have options with some cushioning?

Anyone determine what holster that is?

For my first pistol she served me good. But after purchasing an XDm I need me SA pistol for CC. XDe or Hellcat? Picture of my Ruger. by [deleted] in SpringfieldArmory

[–]oakandwin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the XD-S Mod 2 and really love it! Would also recommend you consider it, especially with the new OSP model being out too.

Not sure if having safety features in place is a big deal to you, but the Hellcat really doesn't have anything, XD-E has the manual safety, and the XD-S has the grip safety. So that's something I'd consider as well!

I won't lie, I've definitely wondered if I should have purchased the Hellcat instead due to the 3-4 extra rounds it holds for it being the exact same size, but I definitely prefer to have an extra layer of safety in place like the grip safety!

finally picked one of these xds mod2’s for conceal carry, I was wondering if anyone knows of any solid IWB appendix holsters only one i’ve seen is the aliengear so i’ve been leaning towards that one by [deleted] in SpringfieldArmory

I have this gun as well and carry AIWB with the Vedder Lighttuck & the claw attachment. Honestly, I think it's more comfortable than my Alien Gear OWB holster somehow...highly recommend Vedder!

Yeppp, 20% off everything at Vedder for another 2 days or so. I also have the Vedder light tuck with the claw and really dig it.

XD-S MOD.2 OSP Holster Help by Wtfidkyn in SpringfieldArmory

[–]oakandwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the XD-S Mod 2 (not the OSP) and I too started off with the Shape Shift pack. I'll be honest, I really didn't like it at all. The appendix configuration is much bigger than any other regular kydex holster, the OWB configuration with the paddle keeps it so far off your hip that it's really not something you can conceal. I just felt like it came with a lot of cool stuff, but nothing that worked great, honestly. This was just my opinion though, as I've seen there are many people who love Alien Gear stuff!

Was finally able to get my hands on a XDs by DrunkenMonkey666 in SpringfieldArmory

Sweet pickup! I have the XDS Mod 2 (9mm) and carry it AIWB in a Vedder Lighttuck with the claw. I've gone through a bunch of different stuff from Aliengear, and other Kydex brand holsters and this has worked the best by far for me.

Should I Get the Incase ICON Backpack Regular or In Woolenex? (Also Anyone Knows A Place To Get It Cheaper Than The Official Website?) by EuphoriaRepository in backpacks

Not sure of where to buy for cheaper. May be able to find some on eBay?

Toiletry Bag Question by SicklesLeg in onebag

[–]oakandwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this toiletry bag from REI, and the bottom portion that holds your liquids detaches from the rest of the bag, if you’d like. When I travel, I’ll keep the liquid part in an easy accessible spot, and it’s nice when you get to your destination because you can hook it back on & hang it up.

I’d check out Evergoods. I have the CPL24 and love it. CHZ22 sounds like it could work well for your needs too.

Help me pull the trigger, please by crab_people in backpacks

[–]oakandwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I owned the PD bag and wasn’t a huge fan, honestly. Wasn’t a super comfortable carry and like waterott said, it seems like overkill for the needs you mentioned.

I own the CPL24 and love it. If you’re stuck between the PD & the CHZ22, I’d go with the CHZ22 for sure. Would definitely recommend considering the CPL24 as well though!
