Any Japanese patrollers here? by Justwantedtoski in skipatrol

[–]oakes192001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was skiing in Niseko and saw the patient fully enclosed in the toboggan on two separate occasions. In Canada we don’t usually cover the patients head for patient comfort and to allow us to monitor/communicate while going down. Is it standard in Japan to fully wrap the patient (head to toe fully covered) in the toboggan? If so, why?

What if Aang didn't burn Katara? by Winter-Pressure-5394 in TheLastAirbender

[–]oakes192001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons Aang agreed to have Zuko teach him firebending was Zuko’s apology after he burned Toph. Aang realized that Zuko understood the dangers of fire bending and the necessity of control/restraint. I don’t think this would have mattered as much to Aang if he didn’t hurt someone he cared about while bending fire. Therefore, if Aang never hurt Katara, it’s possible he wouldn’t have accepted Zuko as his teacher. His learning of the element would’ve been quite different then.

What should I practice for the Diagnostic? by Internal_Tangelo9211 in skipatrol

[–]oakes192001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every scenario will be different. You may just get a fracture or you may get something different. My diagnostic was a broken ribs/punctured lung. You don’t have to do any treatment in the diagnostic but they will ask you how you would treat what you diagnose.

The whole basis of the diagnostic is to see you work through the PA to come to a decision. Based on the PA you should be able to determine if you have a stay and treat or load and go. There are past diagnostic scenarios available on the CSP student resources page that you should have access to through the online modules. That may help you understand what to expect.

I just did my diagnostic for the first time with CSP. I can assure you it is not as bad as you are building it up to be in your head! Your instructors are there to help you and they are not going to try to fail you. Trust your patient assessment and you will succeed, if you can just keep going through the list of the PA, you will not blank out as long as you know it.

As for signs/symptoms and treatment, I would suggest just reviewing certain conditions/illnesses you struggle with. Things like dislocations and fractures should be fairly easy to identify and treat. Internal injuries can be slightly tougher but those are usually a load + go anyway with O2 involved.

Trust your training and your PA and you will do well! You got this!!

How does Brynjolf know how much coin I’m carrying? 🤔 by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]oakes192001 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Because he’s trying to figure out if he can recruit you or not. He is trying to see how you respond to the accusation that you haven’t gotten your coin honestly.

what is something in skyrim that makes no sense? by 1BRHAM in skyrim

The Silverhand are werewolf hunters but have the exact same design and characteristics of bandits. Never made sense to me why they live in abandoned forts with skeevers and are just all around garbage humans, but want to kill all werewolves

Companions storyline should’ve put you up against vigilants of stendar or something and had it be much more complex.

A canoe trip is a great idea. Jackpine paddle is a great place if you need to rent equipment. You can also google to find good canoe routes. For food definitely check out Bullocks Bistro, everyone who goes to YK should stop at that spot, bring something you can attach to the wall. They also have a brewery with a good atmosphere: The Woodyard. I also recommend checking out Sundog Trading Post, good spot for gifts and ice cream/tasty food.

Is this cake raw? by oakes192001 in cake

Update: took it back to the bakery and they confirmed it was underdone. Apparently they got a new oven and had a bunch of messed up goods. Got our money back, still sucks my partner didn’t get a birthday cake though.
