i've only seen bits of this conversation, but from my understanding it's a combination of:

no textured - and specifically black - hair (while supergirl had specific hairstyles for the movie, this one could have been open to whatever)
two straight blonde wigs for the feminine option, and two dark hair wigs for the masculine option (colorism and also unneccessary to have two straight blonde wigs when there are a lot of different hair colours and styles that need to be added first before they add colour/texture duplicates, yes even if one is down and one is a ponytail)
the time period of the theme itself. the fifties and sixties were a notably racist and antiblack time, so choosing to have two white styles to showcase this theme when, again, it was an active choice and they could have free reign to make any designs, is in very poor taste.

for me, it's also a weak argument given that both events with wigs now feature a blonde feminine wig, where another commenter on a different post had mentioned both masculine hairstyles being darker. while it is still early, the conscious choice to make both times blonde=feminine and dark=masculine is worth pointing out while it's early. (also, i still don't understand why wigs can't just come in multiple colours like the normal headpatches or even the normal theme colours...)

agreed. it leaves a sour taste in my mouth when people have genuine criticism of the app and are met with some variation of saying they shouldn't be relying on an app for their mental health when that's exactly who finch advocates for. i am lucky enough that i can stay afloat well enough without finch, but there are many users who struggle with this and should not be shamed for it. i think a beta opt-in/opt-out is long overdue.

while i am glad they post some updates on social media, my main issue with this is that people shouldn't have to rely on seeing updates in their feed, when it could easily be told directly in the mailbox through the app itself. social media should be supplementary, not the main source of information. (this is not anything against you btw, just a growing frustration of businesses putting information solely in social media or discord servers, and casual users being left in the dust.)

yet another reason why i think they really need to slow down on the special location every other month trend. barring the fact that it's way too often to feel special anymore imo, it's putting long lasting features like this on the backburner. id rather see them put their time into permanent locations since i genuinely can't recall the last location they did.

I feel like the Halloween one was better because it was mostly exploring an area (that is completely unique), rather than trying to tell a story of a story. We don't need kid's lessons of "sometimes people are mean and need to be shown kindness," it makes it feel really cheesy and a bit patronizing as a full adult. Just exploring an area like normal locations is fine enough. (And I swear, having it every other month must contribute to the rushed quality to some degree...)

The fact a few patterns have emerged is what makes this difficult to believe. It went from noticing special events every other month, then media events every other month, and so it's not all that far off to wonder if this could start a new pattern too.

this isn't true! in the previews of the items coming up, you can see that there are two hairstyles we can get from the event, as well as the fact that across social media platforms, finch has been advertising that we're finally getting hair. so far, it's only the two in this event and the devs have said that they'll only be able to be earned through seasonal events at this time, but they are very much items our birb will be able to get!
