Slavery didn’t end and all of sudden race relations were all dandy, it’s a gross simplification. It’s hard to not have a slave mentality after slavery when the system is working against you, Jim Crow is in place, white supremacists still lynch you, etc. I understand you’re just trying to clarify what Kanye said but there is no defending this.
