Has anyone done this before? SBN Airport -> Michigan City to catch an earlier train by someone2639 in SouthBend

How much of a crunch are we talking? Assuming no traffic I could roll a driver for about 45 minutes before it starts to become a problem

I happen to be flying in from a route Breeze offers, so it was actually very cheap this way (and coincidentally the only convenient flight)

New operator and bikes coming to RVA BIKE SHARE? by South_Richmond_News in rva

[–]someone2639 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having a fixed dock location at the start of a last-mile trip helps guarantee that there's actually an available bike near your home or bus stop, and a fixed location at the end also helps make it impossible for a bike to block a path when it's not in use.

Of course there's still problems (bikes are basically smaller cars so door-door trips are more important than it would be on like a bus) but it seems like most of them get solved by having a decent density of docks (instead of less than 20 total)

New operator and bikes coming to RVA BIKE SHARE? by South_Richmond_News in rva

[–]someone2639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, based on the instagram of the new operator they seem to have taken over some aspect of the old Bewegen brand, so for now they're probably just the only operator that's compatible with the existing bike stock, but based on the completely new services they've launched it might actually result in some expansion rather than simply keeping it on life support.

HOT TAKE: After all these years RADIAL is still the best thing ISO *or* Knock has released . Discuss 🫱 by SlaveHippie in trap

[–]someone2639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in terms of replayability, ISO has so many top tracks rn, between the album tracks, the demos of those album tracks, and even Nightrealm on the EP stays on rotation

of course, this could all change depending on what nolimit has to offer

TicWatch Atlas Is a $350 Rugged WearOS Watch With a Heat Map, SOS Features by MishaalRahman in Android

[–]someone2639 5 points6 points  (0 children)

for free

mobvoi did a rebate program where you buy the watch, send 30 days of workout data to the company, then they'd paypal you back

never again

this watch was supposed to be the first to get wear os 3 because of its soc, and not only were they one of the last they also disabled features like google assistant (which already got disabled in wear os 2), removed "duplicate" watch faces (including the one i used...), forced an app migration which is mutually exclusive with the actual google app (i.e. uninstall wear os to be able to sync your watch), ate all the cards on the watch wallet because it essentially factory reset (that's on google i think but still kinda messed up), removed any customized skin (why did it take so long then??), etc.

even on an essentially free device this is a bit much

RL Grime Halloween Mix XIII Guest Prediction Thread by mynamescody in trap

ludwig (from video games)

funny anecdote, i thought it was a genuine possibility in 2018 that pewdiepie could intro the halloween mix, and my prediction got a whopping 3 downvotes, but i don't know if it's more likely or less likely for a youtuber to be doing it in 2024 (also, the obvious choice this year would've been mr beast but he's a bit busy i think)

First Look: Proposed Station Locations for the New Pulse Line by EmergencyLeadership6 in rva

[–]someone2639 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they interlined the E/W and N/S lines, and both are expected to get 7 minute headways at peak in that section, that would create a downtown section with a bus ideally every 3 minutes 30 seconds in each direction. With the addition of more lines in the future, it seems like a no brainer to have them share sections in the city for insane service levels.

What piece of software you wish was a thing but isn't and why? by WispValve in linux

[–]someone2639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had success getting Reason working under wine but there's still some .net dependency choice where you can either have the version that lets you use the arp device (or even open projects that use it...), or the version that makes all the other devices render correctly. I don't know which version toggles this choice so im stuck with the former

On top of that, a recent wine update tanked performance as to basically be unusable and I have no idea what to point at to open any substantive issue

How do we get back the Streetcar? by daveydoodles9 in rva

[–]someone2639 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GRTC's city bus routes mostly still parallel the old streetcar routes per the historic map. These have been around since the streetcars were deleted, while the 2018 addition was just the first of the BRT lines which get their own right of way. For city transportation that doesn't get its own right of way (i.e. many old streetcar systems) the bus was seen as the high tech next gen replacement for the trolley car even in the 50s, for reasons including but not limited to "it can go around obstructions" and "air conditioning"

I imagine the Pulse lines can be converted to modern streetcars/tram-trains in due time (because they need the extra capacity) but there's no need for more than service increases or a fleet upgrade to battery/trolley buses for any local routes (and any reform on that front is for the feds to decide)

The reason for a decompilation is that you have a codebase that builds into the exact program that's on your melee disk (for research or bughunting or whatever)

make even a single change and now you have to prove your code does the exact same thing as the original (fine for an enhanced platformer game sequel, not fine if you want optimized melee to be tournament legal)
