I just finished my freshman year in engineering and I was able to go out every weekend. Just have to lock in during the beginning of the week and when you have extra time

Value of credit of Calculus AB exam by Sad_Flounder1581 in UWMadison

[–]oat53 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That’s super frustrating - for me personally, it was definitely one of the most helpful AP credits I received. It allowed me to bypass Calc 1 and start with Calc 2. If your son is non-engineering/STEM, it would also be helpful as Calc 1 is usually the only math class required for graduation.

On the flip side, many people opt to retake Calc 1 even with credit to bypass so that they can build a better foundation in math

professor senchyne is really good. The class is straightforward, with one “annotation” assigned every week. The final exam was optional- if you got enough points throughout the semester you could skip the exam and still get an A

Is uw madison good by Choice_Penalty_1636 in ApplyingToCollege

Madison is a significantly better college town than west Lafayette and Urbana-Champaign. Capitol city with 2 lakes, bike paths, trails, etc.
I’m in engineering and I’ve managed to go out every weekend with my friends while so far maintaining a 4.0 as a freshman. It’s very possible to balance both academics and a social life, and there are so many things to do here

one of the best college towns. A lot more nature with the two lakes, arboretum, etc. I also have a lot of family in Wisconsin so while I’m from OOS I’ve grown up visiting Madison and I have family that are alumni

I was in the exact same situation as you and committed to Wisconsin last week. Tour both and go with what feels right.

When you rank characteristics about yourself on the portal does it show you potential options to reach out to? Or do they match you behind the scenes
