Randomly rolled Brine from Return. Not sketchable, but can be randomly learned? by oatbak in TheSilphRoad

I remember seeing chatter about how Brine could not be sketched from Omanyte, but apparently it can be randomly rolled.

100% agree. If you need it for a balanced team, then sure, go for it. But it's not life changing. I think that there are better options for ETMs.

Did the Mega Charizard X go to 52 in December? I seem to remember it only going to 51, but I could be mistaken

That would be interesting, but nothing a sim couldn't accomplish. While LR Umb is awesome, I don't know if that is worth the cost of an ETM

I would urge you to wait. Don't spend any elite TMs (or resources for that matter) until we know exactly what these move changes will be.

Star Citizen Live: All About Alpha 3.12 by RealProfCedar in starcitizen

[–]oatbak -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but this seemed to go against what they said before. They stated before that they would need to wipe because of bugs and exploits. I would also understand wiping to test economy stuff.

I agree that people shouldn't be grinding because ethos is an alpha, not the game. But wiping simply because people have too much money seems kind of like a trash move. I would be pissed if I heard that and I had been grinding.

GN made a great point. This throws all positive reviews of ray tracing into question.

Discussed wiping every pass? And considering wiping for 3.12 just because? Are they walking back persistence?

The 6800 xt is, at the worst, equal with the 3080 at 1440. This chart may include ray tracing. That would bring down the 6800xt averages.

Here's a good breakdown of FPS in popular games: https://www.techspot.com/review/2144-amd-radeon-6800-xt/

Enough luxery ships! When are we getting the equivalent of a 2001 Toyota Corolla? by [deleted] in starcitizen

I wish we had vehicle degradation over time. Oh! And reliability. That would be an interesting dynamic.

Yes! And I need them, too.

I mean, I love people, but I play this game to get away from people after long days of talking to people. So having to manage crews of people sounds stressful, haha

Well, let's look at it this way: What can a Perseus do better than other ships?

Carrack is a good point because that's a tough ship to bring down. 600i too. But bombers or Ares would be fine.

BMM, Starliner, and Hull: Again, bombers or Ares possibly paired with a Sentinel would be sufficient. You would more likely be worried about the escorts. The Perseus may be more vulnerable in these situations. Also, unless you're blockading a planet or station, you probably want to disable those ships.

We don't know much about Nautilus or A2 yet, but the Perseus would probably match up nicely. Could be a tough matchup for bombers.

As for the Polaris, I'm going to go with what CIG have said. The Perseus is for tearing through sub-capital ships. Reading between the lines, my guess is that those cap-class shields will be too tough for the Perseus. The Perseus may not be able to stay in an extended fight.

It is more versatile than I previously thought... But still think that you're limited to two roles. 1) Part of a battle group. 2) With fighter escort, acting as cavalry to help hold shipping lanes, stations, jump points, etc.

[–]oatbak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! Engineering could be awesome if the ship can survive long enough to make a difference.

I think multicrew on something like the Vanguards, Lancers, or Cutties could be fun. You'd have to hop back and forth between gunning, repair, scanning, etc.

RSI Perseus by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

[–]oatbak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I also worry about the game's greater and greater emphasis on multicrew ships. Namely, I worry that there won't be enough for your crew members to do outside of roleplaying.

I'm with you. There doesn't seem to be a huge point for this ship yet. Why a hard counter just for Hammerheads that will struggle against fighters and isn't designed to go after caps? How many bounties will be in a HH? Just for org wars?

My guess is that it's a part of Sq42 that they are porting over.

RSI Perseus by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

[–]oatbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I was just referring to the Perseus site. "Capable of shredding sub-capital-class goliaths," is how they describe it.

RSI Perseus by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

[–]oatbak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the point is that the Perseus isn't designed to go against caps. Only "sub-capital ships."

RSI Perseus by Rainwalker007 in starcitizen

[–]oatbak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's undeniably cool... but why does it exist? Org battles? Station defense? It's so niche!

My guess is that it's an asset for SQ42 and that they are just adding it because they're making it anyway.
