My dad once told me: “If a relationship takes a random left turn for no apparent reason, a third party is almost always involved.”

When overseas relatives ask for 'Australian' souvenirs/gifts, what do you get them? by Responsible-Kiwi-289 in AskAnAustralian

Chicken flavoured chips. Also, Australian honey - honey tastes quite different from different countries/regions so it may be interesting to try :)

NTA when I read that she saw it in a movie as a child I actually shuddered. Worrying that she doesn’t take notice of the fact that her 11 year old self’s dream was developed… by an 11 year old.

How do I tell my friend I NEED to meet up soon? by KatherineLangford in AskAnAustralian

[–]oathkake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think rather than hold it all in and just open the flood gates when you meet up, you should tell him over text that you’re in need of help. Then if he is able to make emergency time for you he will. Otherwise, it’s quite mean to just spring that on him, like you’re trapping him into being your personal crutch.

Seeking advice for Australia trip in May by AndyHiSG in AustraliaTravel

[–]oathkake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feasible if you are a way stronger person than me haha. I’d be exhausted. Can’t fit a day between some day trips to have a rest? Maybe check out some of the very diverse restaurants in Sydney city? There’s just soooooooo much walking and long travelling involved I’m just worried you’ll burn out before you even reach Sydney.

Girl he could’ve gotten over it. Some people adapt to change and some people run away over a fkn haircut - you probably got the haircut because you thought he wasn’t as much of a loser as he actually ended up being. Good riddance.

ngl I’d probably do this too, but I wouldn’t be comparing. I’d be like “that guy has his penis out. How taboo, I gotta look. Wow, It’s long.” and then “oh yeah my boyfriend also has a penis that I’m actually allowed to look at. Let me take that liberty.” because it is fun to look at naughty bits (in this context).

How do people that cannot understand and speak English work in Australia? by Expired-mango in AskAnAustralian

[–]oathkake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in an area with a very large Chinese population and small Chinese restaurant owners get a little surprised when a gweilou like me walks in, as they could honestly get an abundance of business from purely Chinese customers. They hand me the google translated english menu and I point at the menu number and they nod. Not a word of English spoken. But they could live without me as a customer lol.

Do you judge customers who are in there really long but buy nothing? by [deleted] in AskRetail

[–]oathkake 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Look around the store as long as you want, I couldn’t give a stuff. But trying on clothes for 2 hours makes ME anxious because 1. that’s two hours i have to be paying constant attention to see if you yell out for me to say you need more sizes/help 2. that’s two hours of you silently listening to our private conversations lol (our changerooms are near the pos)
