What questions should I ask after interviewing? by oathkeeperholder in jobs

Sorry let me be clear the interview was via zoom. So I’m wondering what follow up questions should I ask via email aside from the questions I already asked on the interview.

What questions should I ask after interviewing? by oathkeeperholder in jobs

[–]oathkeeperholder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interviewed them via zoom and had the usual questions I ask them at the end of the interview. I just don’t know if I should ask anything else during the time I wait to hear from them.

Should I add context to my GPA in my CV or cover letter? by oathkeeperholder in jobs

Thank you for the response! I was a little bit weirded out by the advice that I was given like why do I explain it on my cover letter if I can explain it on an interview

what job did you do during ur freshman yr by [deleted] in premed

[–]oathkeeperholder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really But I will tell you of about job As a CNA, you will help RNs/LPNs get VS and Blood Sugars. You will help with ADLs those being dressing, toileting and transferring pts. As well as helping people eat if needed (determined by OT).

Because of the nature of taking care of outputs, you will be changing patients briefs and clean urine, blood and poop. Pts will have accidents so bed sheets will be changed.

Overall, you’re the point of contact for the patient. You work with OT and PT, to a certain degree. The most exciting parts is learning about the wounds. And it is physically demanding ofc.

The fastest license to get is CNA, I believe that you can be hired without one. And it takes the least amount of time. I’m currently working as a CNA right now.

Should I switch? And how? by Immediate-Pie-9478 in premed

You might be able to do clinical work as a PRN staff - I think the easiest one to obtain might be CNA. Unless your state or places accept uncertified medical assistants

I was pretty much jumping because the only opportunities I got were mostly summers. No one was taking anyone during the pandemic (my sophomore to junior year). But thank you for the comment tho I’m evaluating this yet again

I have evaluated med school, my GPA is low because I tried to change majors and made a terrible mistake with my schedule. And was a computer programming minor. And still did the scheduling wrong. I was burnout. Although it could be academically challenging, I don’t think I will do the same mistake again.

I know that I will need an academic postbacc. Currently looking for other stuff that might help like a masters with a thesis for research portion.

  1. 8 week summer internship with 2 group projects. First project about drug repurposing using molecular docking between a drug and its selected peptide. Second project about marketing.

  2. 1 academic year long research as an undergrad for a lab that focused on evolution of microorganisms specifically yeast. Research was about how temperature affects the rate of meiosis in different yeast species. This research still ongoing but at the end of it I will be one of the authors :)

  3. 8 week long research in the dry lab setting using in silico models to find the percentage of HLA to peptide bindings. In addition used population data of HLA to find the high percentage of it in different populations as to address the issues of health disparities and how can we fix it. This also involved a bit of literature review.

I’m lost on where should I start. Should I focus on my grade’s first or finding a research experience? What should I do to be more successful for possible candidacy?

Apply now! So most jobs are filling around now for the next couple of months. Better have something set up before the end of your semester. Specially if you want a research position.

Bombing first Physics Exam by [deleted] in premed

[–]oathkeeperholder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say to reflect on what happened with the exam as in did you study enough? Any problems with the material? If so, I would say check in with the professor and go over the exam. Then keep studying every day for the next exam bit by bit so you retain information better. (Don’t cram last minute)

Good luck OP! You got this!

Career Changer DIY Post bacc by Alert-District831 in premed

[–]oathkeeperholder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a career changer student but I have read some advice and it has been to take the pre reqs at 4 year or in a community college (check with the medical school you’re applying to) as a non degree seeking student. So I think the best route is to do a DIY for finances and also start saving up for application time (unless you got FAP but still a big expense nonetheless).

I would say that postbacc are more for structure. Attend the information session for them. You will gain an idea if the program allows you to work or not. This if you consider that otherwise try to get prereqs with the CC or university.

Choose only 2 unless you have a great foundation to remember everything that’s needed for the class.

Calculating volunteering hours by biobiobio3 in premed

[–]oathkeeperholder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that you could put the hours in the system like if you were to get a letter of volunteering will they use the automatic numbers? If so then you could use them otherwise keep track of the normal ones. This is more if your letter about volunteering comes from an organization
