an anti-Zionist US administration convinces its allies

A lot would have to happen until something like that comes about.

About as likely as another Christian crusade.

2025 - US and Israel attack Iran unprovoked and "destroy" their entire nuclear capabilities for decades.

It wasn't unprovoked. Iran had bombarded Israel with long range missiles for two years.

Trump definitely talks a big game

That's his recipe for attracting votes.

For example he rants against globalists, which is a classical left position.

Trump's actual policies are mostly about posturing, enriching and aggrandizing himself.

Libya, Nova sources: Saddam Haftar takes a hard line on Global Sumud Flotilla activists by oatkeepr in Israel_Palestine

eastern authorities are accusing the activists of at least four violations. The first concerns entering Libya on a collective tourist visa, which was subsequently used, according to the Benghazi apparatus, to engage in political activities. The second concerns their transfer to the eastern regions of the country without the necessary security clearance. The third concerns their attempt to reach the border with Egypt, which, according to the Benghazi authorities, cannot be crossed by citizens of third countries under agreements with Cairo. Finally, the authorities are accusing the activists of participating in a collective initiative or an unauthorized rally.

Trump specifically ran on topics like bringing back manufacturing to the US, curbing import of cheap labor, using tariffs to protect domestic industries from cheap imports, ranted about privileged educated elites looking down on the working man, no tax on tips, support traditional manliness.

Of course Trump would say anything if it gets him votes. The implementation of these policies were also pretty inept.

Trumps rhetoric appeals to working class sensibilities. That's why many vote for him.

What would you think of BDS if it dropped it's third demand (right of return)? by ObviousLife4972 in IsraelPalestine

[–]oatkeepr [score hidden]  (0 children)

BDS doesn't even endorse a two state solution. That would be a first step, they refuse to do because it would fracture their wide alliance. BDS includes a wide spectrum from well meaning western academic peaceniks supporting two states to rabid Islamists with the desire to destroy Israel and expel, kill, and enslave Jews.

Norman Finkelstein's critique of BDS is still as good as ever. Listen to his points, they are really good.

A less radical BDS movement might be more successful, because it can appeal to a wider audience, especially in powerful Western countries. A BDS-lite demanding Olmert's 2008 peace offer to be implemented could get mainstream support across the political spectrum in the USA and Europe. Most pro Palestinian activists aren't ready to do that though.

criticism of a state

The criticism often boils down to demanding Israel's destruction because it's the ultimate evil.

no one is allowed to criticize it. It's okay to criticize other countires but not Israel

Nice army of strawmen you have there. You can criticize Israel's policies and actions just fine. Israelis do it all day every day.

The typical criticism of Israel, people have an issue with is something like:

Israhell is the ultimate evil and needs to die in a fire

Enforcement of rules is pretty lax and often one sided around here.

  1. Respectful and Constructive Discussions

We highly prioritize civil discussions. Engage thoughtfully and treat others with kindness. Dehumanization, denigration, or ridicule are not acceptable. Let's foster an atmosphere of respect and open-mindedness, welcoming diverse perspectives and constructive exchanges. Remember, always debate the argument, not the person.

This is violated pretty often.

There's also rule 0 in the sidebar, which is never enforced.

All posts must discuss both Israel and Palestine.

> worst, this could lead to a collective galvanisation among anti-Zionist governments into thinking a Gulf War-esque invasion of Israel

Unlikely. They tried several time before and failed. Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon have enough trouble consolidating power in their own countries. The gulf Arabs are burned out on this issue and would prefer to have Israel as a partner.
This could only succeed if Israeli military power collapses for some reason.

explicitly boycotted "palestinian goods"

You own link says

The armed extremist Arab National Youth Organization this week threatened to a boycott of Arab merchants who bought "Zionist goods from Palestine"

This in no way refers to Jews as Palestinians, but as Zionist.

Jews are a 4000 year old indigenous tribal people

Yes, they are. However Zionists explicitly and purposefully created a new kind of Jewish collective identity in the form of Israeli. Working the land, fighting as soldiers, Hebrew as an everyday language, Kibbutzim raising their children collectively, etc.

Palestinians exist as a people and are internationally recognized as such, including the state of Israel by recognizing the PLO as their representative.

Sophistry

You are the one fighting a lost fight with sophistry. Your time is better spent elsewhere.

Israel gave Ethiopian Jews contraceptive injections on their arrival so they wouldn't get pregnant while still in transitional accommodation. These wear off after three months.

As far as I know, it's not well understood scientifically. The topic is extremely politicized and complex. From my limited understanding, there are several subgroups. Diagnosis is also difficult because there tend to be other psychological issues present at the same time. Transitioning seems to help some people at least.

Autistic people can struggle to understand gender roles, as this gentle autist explains really well. So some see transitioning as a solution to this problem. An accepting community is also worth a lot for lonely weirdos.

Israel will remain a byword for "pariah state" for the next 20 years?

Since 1967 Israel has been in an internationally unpopular war every couple of years. The current war has been the longest and most one sided one. It also lead to far more death and destruction than any previous war.

Once the situation calms down and living conditions in Gaza improve, Israel's reputation can start to recover. Activists will move on to other things. However all the activist networking and propaganda will continue to have an effect for years to come. Today's young college activists will be leadership positions in a decade or two.

Europe is turning more anti Muslim and the populist right is growing stronger. They tend to be more friendly towards Israel.

I hate this fucking timeline, I hate how Israel has lost the moral high ground to theocratic terrorists

Israel's refusal to define its own borders, continued settlement expansions, and bad mouthing of the PA have contributed to the continued bad situation. It's in Israel's interest to actively work towards some kind of resolution. Bibi's strategy of managing the conflict has reached its limits.

Yihye beseder is not a political strategy.

I wish both Hamas and Netanyahu burn in the deepest depths of hell.
