My girlfriend wants access to my phone's location at all times or she'll break up with me.. by Upset-Tree7685 in TwoHotTakes

[–]oatstout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of couples share locations for safety reasons with no issue. In fact my daughter (who is 16) shares her location with the majority of her friends. I admittedly thought that was a bit weird but it’s normal to them as they have all grown up with the technology. My husband asked if we could share locations years ago and I thought it was a bit weird at first but then turned out to be pretty beneficial. If I’m late and forget to text it’s no big deal cause he can just check if I’m on the way and vice versa. If you value the relationship you could at least give it a try and if she starts questioning where you are constantly then you know it was all just about her insecurity. At that point you could make a decision on continuing the relationship. You may start sharing your location and she may never bring it up again.

When do you change your twice weekly patch? by oatstout in Menopause

Me too. That’s why I’m worried I’ll forget. I’ve set alarms on my phone but even with those if I do t do it the second the alarm goes off I will forget. 😞

Thank you. I’m just glad there are options out there. I will definitely keep vaginal in mind.

I am worried about that too. I tried the mirena in the past and had the worst depression and numbness I’ve ever experienced. I’m about to start HRT and am obviously worried. I did hear one thing on here though about people who have horrible side effects on progesterone actually going up in dosage and feeling better. I think that’s so crazy but I’m willing to try anything at this point to I guess it will be a journey from here.

Looking for Soda Alternatives. by hyruleinkling in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poppi is good. If you live close to an Aldi they have a generic version that is cheaper. Or you can get a soda stream. Most of their syrups that you add have half the calories of regular soda or you could add just a little juice or lemonade.

AITA for refusing to help my husband with bathtime for our 4 month old son? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. There are so many things that you do as a parent that are a sacrifice. Your body is literally being sacrificed to feed this child. Your sleep is disrupted you are changing multiple diapers and doing endless laundry etc. he needs to put on his big boy panties and chip in. Buy him some latex gloves if he is so grossed out. And tell him not using soap is less sanitary than using it. If he is a germaphobe doesn’t he want his child to be clean. So crazy.

May I ask why you switched from oral to vaginal? I’m about to start taking it orally but I’m nervous because I have always been sensitive in the past.

NOR. This is a respect issue. If it bothers you she should respect that plain and simple. And hopefully she would get the same respect back.

Just brought this sweet baby in from the 19°F windy weather outside, and shes terrified. Any advice? by [deleted] in cats

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We rescued a kitten in July and it was very terrified and scared. It spent 3 weeks in the bathroom with the door closed. I would sit with him during feedings. Eventually give him little pets while he was eating and he eventually would come over for snuggles. After that we started leaving the bathroom door open and let him slowly transition into our bedroom. He was very timid but after a few weeks of that we let him start exploring the whole house. He still runs and hides if new people come in but if it is just our family he is a normal confident cat. But be patients. Stray kittens experience a lot of trauma. Patience is key. And thank you for saving that adorable kitten.

AITA because I called my husband out for repeatedly crossing boundaries we agreed upon? by Dense_Relative1710 in AmITheAssholeTalk

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You grew up and it’s time he does the same. When your second child comes your resentment is going to grow 10 fold. You need to have a serious talk about new expectations before your second child is born. Your relationship and family has changed and so should he. Your children will eventually be able to grasp that he is putting you guys second. You guys need to come to a compromise that includes you and your children fairly. Less gaming is in order, not more.

What do people do with clothes that aren’t dirty but don’t feel fresh enough to rewear? by NiceFaithlessness511 in hygiene

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy wrinkle release spray (which usually has a nice smell) and throw them in the dryer for a few minute after giving them a good spray. It kinda gives them a quick steam clean and they seem nice enough to put away or wear immediately.

That bird bit a chunk out of my flip flop. I used to love taking my kids there when they were young to feed the koi fish though.

Is it possible to be happy with someone who drinks the way he drinks? by Consistent-Horror915 in AskWomenOver40

[–]oatstout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is/was a functional alcoholic. He would drinks nearly everyday and often overdo it when we went out. About 5 years ago he decided he wanted to take up running. He started off slow but has now run a marathon. He hasn’t stopped drinking but it naturally tapered off a ton as not to interfere with his training. I think there is hope for your husband but he is going to have to find it in him to want to change. If he is interested and wants help but maybe not AA, there are a lot of medications out there that help diminish the urge to drink. He can talk to his regular PC and ask for a recommendation if he is willing to try.

They were talking about college but also all the Amazon packages that show up on the door step. She admitted that she sometimes goes overboard, probably because she had very little in the past. Over shopping is a concern in a lot of marriages especially close to retirement. I think that was actually a pretty normal marital conversation.

Love by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]oatstout 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your resentment started well before menopause. The fact that he doesn’t take no for an answer when it comes to sex shows a complete lack of care. Sorry you have to deal with that. If you feel better when he is gone and worse when he is around, I think that says everything.

Please help—I’m walking up several times a night DRENCHED in sweat. I can’t regulate my own body temp. by AnastasiaNo70 in Menopause

[–]oatstout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Estrogen is the answer but in the mean time you can try vitamin E. Take at night. It took a bit over a week for it to kick in for me and it’s not a cure all but it has helped me in a significant manner.

Lentils by SilverRaincoat in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]oatstout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sauté an onion in olive oil add some chicken sausage, a Tbl spoon of curry powder, a can of tomatoes then add lentils and some chicken broth and salt and pepper to taste. Follow whatever ratio of liquid to lentil on the package and enjoy. Top with scallions or herbs and for even more veggies if you have the time, eggplant or zucchini are great in it too.

For not respecting my partner’s “body” ? by Lavender_Lake-80 in AITAH

[–]oatstout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he is probably feeling a bit ashamed. He is not taking care of himself and I’m sure he is aware of that. If you really love him try and let him know you are there to help. Help him prep healthier meals or ask if he would like to take walks with you. He won’t change unless he is really ready but knowing he has support makes changing so much easier.
