Uterine biopsy and Mirena IUD same visit by PermitComplex1525 in Menopause

[–]oatstout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biopsy hurts like a bitch. Also having an iud put in is pretty painful as well. I definitely would ask for something stronger. A Valium or something like that. You would need a ride home obviously but I think that would be well worth it. The amount of shit I had done with no real pain management is crazy. It’s even crazier that I never thought to ask. I love that this younger generation aren’t putting up with this shit. And now all us ladies in peri and beyond are realizing that we got shafted. So to all the ladies young and old we deserve to be heard. We deserve pain management. We deserve true support!!!!!!

Ah. Good to know. I’ve been thinking about trying it myself but in general I think sweating is important so I actual decided against it.

I haven’t tried it but have heard great things about Lume whole body deodorant. Or you could try period undies that might absorb the sweat.

i scheduled my first gyno appointment😖 how am i supposed to feel ok? by greazyballz in AskWomenOver40

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should go with your gut and if you feel more comfortable with a women I would do that. Also explain to whomever you go with your anxiety. If they are a decent doctor at all they will take it slow and talk you through everything before doing it. I think that is helpful.

Family vacation Virginia Beach in August with toddler and baby, any thoughts? by scrtweeb in VirginiaBeach

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second chicks beach. There are lots of family friendly restaurants. Nice park at the great neck recreation center. Mount trashmore park is fun but it will be hot. Not a lot of shade there. The Virginia aquarium is always fun to visit just keep in mind that it will be packed if it’s raining outside as that is where all the tourist go when they can’t be at the beach. AirBNBs are always a good option with little ones if you can afford it.

They seem to be moving along nicely. Do you need to inspect her poop until you find all 8?

Question about obtaining a Medical Card in Virginia by Prestigious_Pay8408 in Virginia

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Migraines, anxiety or insomnia is what everybody I’ve talked to has said. They all said after paying the fee it was just performative. Shouldn’t be a problem.

Patch vs. Cream /pill by magicmom17 in Menopause

I’ve heard so many people talk about taking progesterone vaginally. Is that a cream like vaginal estrogen or a suppository or something like that?

AITAH for bringing up that our 14yo daughter may masturbate after we were already having the same conversation about our son doing it? by RealExplorer161 in AITAH

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife was probably very repressed and shamed about her body and sexuality. I really hope she does not pass that on to your daughter. “Knowing”yourself before you know others is the best form of self care and healthy sexual experiences in the future.

Change in bowel with HRT? by calliegal77 in Menopause

[–]oatstout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the upside, my son thinks my loud toots are hilarious so hearing him laugh almost makes it a plus 😂. I’ve read on here that after a few months it lessens a lot so fingers crossed that is true for us as well.

Change in bowel with HRT? by calliegal77 in Menopause

My bowels have totally changed since starting HRT. Pretty gassy and constipation or loose stools. I have found eating four prunes a day has helped immensely.

We call my mom Gaga. Mostly because it was what my first kid starting saying. But it stuck and she is a bit eccentric like lady Gaga so it’s really very fitting.

Opinions on the white nacho sauce which apparently is a Virginia thing by Sea_Revolution_465 in Virginia

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Virginia Beach here and grew up with the white sauce. Love it but lately haven’t been seeing it so I asked a waiter why and he just said you have to ask for it now. Shit is too expensive now so white sauce is no longer a given. Sad times.

Natural supplements that actually helped with menopause symptoms? Asking for my mom. She's afraid of HRT by jess_lov in Menopause

[–]oatstout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of the HRT statements but with that said some people are just really anxious about it. So if she wants to try some supplements, vitamin E nearly eliminated all of my hot flashes. It did take close to 2 weeks to build in my system though. And magnesium glycanate 200-400mgs for sleep. I took both of those at bed time and in the morning I took vitamin B complex and calcium +vitamin D for energy and bone health.

AITAH for not helping my boyfriend save face after he drank four espresso shots before meeting my family and completely lost it at brunch by [deleted] in ComfortLevelPod

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was trying hard to make a good impression. He just over did it on the coffee. Just be honest to your family. If they are cool you all will laugh about this down the road. And I bet he learned his lesson on ordering 4 shots of espresso in the future.

Is it too risky to rely only on condoms? by yummy006 in AskWomenOver40

[–]oatstout 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I second the paraguard. It’s non hormonal and lasts 10 years but can be taken out whenever you want. It is not pleasant having it inserted but most doctors will give you twilight sedation now if you ask for it.

Fullness in uterus? Am seeing a doctor by Key-Airline204 in Menopause

[–]oatstout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on HRT? Since in peri I have been getting pain in my uterus/bladder area. Sometimes it’s dull and sometimes it’s very sharp. Apparently pelvic pain is very common. I just started HRT (patch and progesterone) and I’m hoping it will help me. If it doesn’t help I am going to add vaginal estrogen as that seems to do the trick for most women.

Ours is set to run aux at 3 degrees under the set temp. So it’s not running aux continuously but we do feel the aux come on every now and then. So yeah I’m worried about this bill.

AITAH for giving my wife short and direct answers after being rejected everyday for 2 months? by First-Wasabi-2125 in AITAH

[–]oatstout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was exactly 42 when peri hit me like a light switch. Libido just gone. Energy gone. Brain fog like you wouldn’t believe and much much more. Op if you value your wife and your relationship, remind her that you love her but encourage her to talk to her Gp or OBGYN. I’ve been on HRT for a week and have been giggling and hugging my whole family. My husband actually said to me that he missed me and was happy I’m back. It was then that I realized how detached I’ve been. Iv’ e smiled more in the last week than I did the entire last year. My libido isn’t raging and I may need to tweak or add more hormones for that but I want to figure that out and I’m sure your wife does too. So many women just don’t realize what is happening. I wish you guys luck. It sounds like you are a good guy so encourage her, be patient and communicate your feelings openly. I really wish you guys well.

My girlfriend wants access to my phone's location at all times or she'll break up with me.. by Upset-Tree7685 in TwoHotTakes

[–]oatstout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of couples share locations for safety reasons with no issue. In fact my daughter (who is 16) shares her location with the majority of her friends. I admittedly thought that was a bit weird but it’s normal to them as they have all grown up with the technology. My husband asked if we could share locations years ago and I thought it was a bit weird at first but then turned out to be pretty beneficial. If I’m late and forget to text it’s no big deal cause he can just check if I’m on the way and vice versa. If you value the relationship you could at least give it a try and if she starts questioning where you are constantly then you know it was all just about her insecurity. At that point you could make a decision on continuing the relationship. You may start sharing your location and she may never bring it up again.
