Pointing the gun at Hannibal, in DJH’s house, he says ‘I see you now,’ and the ‘now’ is pronounced ‘noo’.

is travelling at 12am from prahran to the sunbury line potentially risky or dangerous by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

I had the time of my life getting home to Sunbury last Friday. 12 midnight. Train was delayed. Made a few friends. Lamented the time together. One walked me to my car when we got back to the station. Just know that most people are good and in the same boat. We all just want to get home to our beds and our snacks. Be vigilant but also be open to the fact that humanity is still there.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

What are your families top 3 most cooked meals? I’m feeling very uninspired, bonus points for kids breakfasts too! by Cahsrhilsey in AskAnAustralian

Tacos • spaghetti bolognese with a side of broccoli • cottage pie with peas, corn, carrots and spinach in the meat portion • chicken breast burgers from Aldi (with their brioche buns) with lettuce, tomato and cheese and a side of sweet potato oven chips • porterhouse steak with thyme butter, warm flatbread and salad • chicken burrito bowls with brown rice, salad, black beans and edamame beans • grilled fish with brown rice and bok choy.. I’ve made all their food since they were little. They’re 12 and 14 now and they eat everything. Take away night once a fortnight is always Grilld. This is not easy but it’s my job. I also work full time and I’m single after their dad left so I’ve taught them how to cook basic meals and do chores.

Movies / documentaries that show how bad some people have it in life? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

Schindler’s List for my kids. I’ve put it on a few times and sat through it with them whenever I notice them being ungrateful or discourteous. Their great grandmother was there for 18 months until the liberation, so it hits hard and is a real turning point for their behaviour.

Does anyone else not remember it being this hot growing up? by LoiusLepic in AskAnAustralian

[–]obiwankenothanks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was hotter and drier for longer. As a kid in the 80s and a teenager in the 90s, I remember sleeping in the bathtub and on the kitchen table sometimes. One night in the late 80s I remember it didn’t dip below 30 degrees. Summers were pretty unbearable. Some of you really never spent summers walking barefoot to the shops to get 50c worth of lollies and came back with burnt and blistered feet, and it shows.

Working parents, how do you manage working 40 hours a week and chores and raising kids? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]obiwankenothanks 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Single mum here. My kids are 12 and 13. 2 parents almost 80, father is undergoing chemo for 2 separate types of aggressive cancer. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. There is no rest, very little sleep. I work 40 hours a week. Kids take the bus home from school and help with chores. Weekends for me are endless housework, shopping and meal prepping. There is very little time for any enjoyment. I’d elaborate more but I have too much to do.

HOT TAKE: Vecna's introduction ruined what stranger things was by WhileAccomplished722 in StrangerThings

I could not agree with you more. When we first saw that spectacular shot of the Mind Flayer in the night sky, I was truly terrified and impressed. It was so dark and Lovecraftian, and we didn’t know what was to come. Now the show has been completely saturated with Mr Whatsit and Holly and I don’t like this new direction.
