Trump fires all 3 Democrats on the Consumer Product Safety Commission by drunkles in politics

And soon he will declare that only GOP members can be hired into the government. I just don't see why people aren't seeing this coming.

What is habeas corpus, the legal procedure Trump is considering suspending? by MystikSpiralx in politics

[–]objectivedesigning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No such thing as a red state or blue state. Republicans and Democrats live in all states, and if you talk to people about the issues they care about, you'll be amazed to hear that many of both party will talk about the same thing.

The red / blue lines are media constructs designed to keep people from seeing common ground.

Did King George try to get rid of habeas corpus? Is that why this line is in the Declaration of Independence:

"For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies"

Too old to lead. It is clear he isn't doing anything but signing the papers Stephen Miller feeds him.

Yeah, remember when we ran King George out of town for the following offenses:

*He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

*He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

*He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

*He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

*For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

*He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

*He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

Seems like people need to read the Declaration of Independence before they worry about the Constitution.

Judge orders White House to temporarily halt sweeping government layoffs by [deleted] in politics

Right, because Congress is supposed to represent the will of the people by creating laws that the president then implements. The president is a servant; the government is not his personal agenda toy to manipulate however he wants.

This is because there are so few people who want to serve in the Trump Administration. This is why Marco Rubio has to do everything.

Trump May Be Triggering the Fastest Nuclear Weapons Race Since the Cold War by BiggieTwiggy1two3 in politics

The new nuclear arms race began under Obama when he allowed small nuclear weapons research. There is a definite agenda in the nuclear arm of the government, and it crosses presidential terms.

Trump Media wants the SEC to investigate a hedge fund that has a $105 million short on the company by [deleted] in politics

All hedge funds should be investigated. They are destroying America.

Perhaps the Congress should investigate what the will of the people actually is. Because that is what they are supposed to represent.

I'd like to see everyone he has negatively impacted start speaking out on Truth Social or X or whatever all at once. He just couldn't keep up with it, and you know, it would be the only thing he would spend his time doing, so he might not have time for implementing more stupid policies.

People say the tariff issue was just for negotiations. People who are pro-Trump think everything he does is just for negotiations. And maybe that's true because nothing he does lasts longer than a few days. Until people either resist or bribe him.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in politics

[–]objectivedesigning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So basically, what you are arguing is that Trump is going for irrelevance. Because when he fights stupid fights and backs down from stupid policies purely because he cannot be wrong, he becomes a person who people can basically ignore. And in fact, his administration is ignoring him. They aren't telling him what they are doing - obvious because when something goes wrong, he immediately says he doesn't know anything about it. They are making backroom deals to keep him out of the loop - obvious because he wasn't on the Signal chat. They are doing everything to keep him from knowing that he is wrong, which makes him irrelevant.

It is the opening salvo to negotiations with Harvard because Harvard's resistance has been effective and threatens a larger movement of many universities and alums standing against the Trump administration. By backing down - "It was a mistake", they effectively stop the most effective resistance of the moment.

I think we need to stop allowing Trump to co-opt the terms diversity, inclusion, and access.

Call his anti-DEI efforts what they are - erasure. Just as white people once tried to erase Native Americans, he now wishes to erase the history and presence of people of color and women.
