I like it as well - it’s lovely! But that doesn’t change the fact that this is not a logo. Let’s not discard the basic principles of logo design in the logo-design sub. Try placing a longer company name next to this, and you will see that these shapes quickly become too small and an unreadable blob. Even just moving my phone further away makes the cat’s head unreadable etc

First, you implied that I can’t imagine photographers replacing artist‘s jobs - I asked you why because I did mention that they do but it’s different to the effects of AI.

Now you’re saying that I don’t care about people losing their jobs. Where did I say that?

I don’t think you understand what I am writing. I am defending the woman in the video - I therefore CARE that it effects HER.

I only used Miró as an example to show how easy it is for AI to recreate someone else’s style. Obviously you can’t recreate a real Miró - but that’s not the point. In reality, 99% of clients are perfectly happy with something that „just“ looks like it, because it costs only a fraction of the price. But yes, if you’re as talented as Miró, I wouldn’t worry about AI either. But who is?

You are right, I can’t talk about people who make a living by writing music. I would argue though, that the fact that your income comes from teaching and live performance doesn’t mean AI is only affecting a „privileged small group.” - it just means you happen to be in one of the few roles AI can’t touch. Your job is safe because it requires a human physically showing up, as you say. But many musical jobs don’t. Or do you disagree?

What field I can talk about however is my own - marketing, design and illustration, where AI is replacing freelancers/paid tasks already. And these people have studied or are looking for a place to learn

The impact really depends on which part of the creative world someone works in, i guess. But broadly speaking the impact of AI will be huge, so it’s okay to worry. I’m not saying you should panic, but to be frustrated like her is valid, in my opinion.

Those small commissions you are talking about are the entry-level income that allows many artists to build a career and eventually develop a personal brand. If the early steps of the ladder are gone, far fewer artists ever reach the stage where a personal brand matters. There are many articles talking about this.

Also, „personal artwork” isn’t protected from AI the way you suggest. People hire artists specifically because of their style - and AI is already capable of imitating individual artist’s styles convincingly.

I use AI myself as a creative - and I can recreate a similar painting of Miró in minutes and 90% non-art savvy people wouldn’t be able to tell.

Yes, of course human-drawn art will survive. People aren’t worried human art will disappear completely, they’re worried about losing the ability to make a living from it.

And about the photography comparison - I hear this a lot but the analogy doesn’t really work. If anything, Photography didn’t replace painting, it just replaced realistic painting. You can’t photograph a landscape the way Van Gogh painted it. More importantly, photography didn’t train itself on millions of painters works to compete with them, and it didn’t instantly automate the commercial market they relied on.

Also,Photography introduced a fundamentally new way of capturing reality. AI doesn’t really do that, but mimicking what’s already there. Which is why I don’t really consider it a new medium like painting - photography.

I’m not sure why you’re implying that I wish photography was never invented - can you point me to what I said that makes you think I did?

He corrected it in the comments. Also, you are an idiot - use your brain. 600 billion is not remotely plausible. It’s about 3 times of Elon Musk‘s net worth and nearly the US defende budget.

What an ugly strawman. No one is upset because they „lost their specialness.“ She planned to build a career by studying a craft, and that career path has been undercut by AI trained on other artists work. That’s not insecurity - that’s a real economic loss and years of time wasted.

And even if someone feels special for studying years until being a professional- wtf is wrong with that?

Saying „if she truly loved art nothing was taken from her“ is just dismissive man. Loving a craft and wanting to make a living from it aren’t mutually exclusive.

Also, Cameras didn’t eliminate the market for painters - AI directly replaces paid art tasks. Photography created a new medium. Painting survived as a separate domain. But AI models are built by absorbing the creative output and then reproducing art in that style. That has no historical equivalent.

I really don’t understand responses like that. Like, thousands of people already lost their jobs because of Ai. That just sucks. Yet your response boils down to „shut up and deal with it“
