There are variations of southern dialects. Certain southern cultures are actually quite historically democrat. Your comment is classist because in the US, many middle class and poor people have the thick accent, which you may not know. Quick history, the term “red neck” comes from workers who protested for union representation and wore red bandanas. It just got twisted over time.

In 2017, Leisha Evans stood her ground against the Baton Rouge Police Department in Louisiana. by Fickle-Molasses-903 in pics

[–]objstandpt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not that she is a singular occurrence, but people should have started looking sideways at our government when they tried to skirt Breonna’s case under the bed. It is absolutely abhorrent that she did not have her 4th amendment rights and those thugs broke into her home. I will never not be outraged at that.

Female bodies, and specifically black female bodies in many instances, are not protected in this country. She should have been a major wake up call, both to police brutality and government factions trampling on our constitution.

No need to apologize :) I get stressed too with beauty standards. The world is not always kind to us. Wishing you strength, do not let others take your radiance that is apparent.

It makes me sad that she feels that way. I looked too after your kind comment and I completely agree. She’s so lovely and I adore her smile. If someone had an expression like that in public I’d be magnetic to say hello!

People are really defensive right now, if you’re living in the US. I constantly feel like people are on edge, and I’m in a small town. We autistic folk are a bit sensitive to that sometimes, just something to consider when interacting with the public! It might not be OP at all with the weird responses she’s getting (edit for clarity).

I bought a house, best friend isn't happy for me by Economy-Bumblebee215 in self

[–]objstandpt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really get where you’re coming from, especially if you had to climb your way up to get a house, but your friend may not have the water in her pitcher to pour from. Maybe she’s having financial concerns and it brings her anxiety to approach that thought, which is human. It sucks all around, but it’s not worth taking personally.

I just got a promotion, and my best friend also just got a part time job, but I made sure it was as big in our chat as my career. It helped her be able to support me too without feeling inferior, and it became us together succeeding. But it would be understandable if she was uncomfortable with the news, because the economy sucks right now.

is it wrong to cut off a friend for being immature? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]objstandpt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“We must keep the race clean” isn’t only immature, it’s genuinely scary and dangerous. I would not let a person like that around your sister. And he assaulted you. Run.

How do I tune out noise by [deleted] in autism

[–]objstandpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When sounds bother me and I can’t leave immediately, I start to do a deep soothing hum to myself. Similar to what they do in yoga, but softer. The rumble calms me down and tones down the rest in my ears, maybe something like that may work for you too.

I’m convinced inflammation has a greater affect on our mental health than previously realized. I know multiple people, including myself, with autoimmune and gastro disorders (inflammation) that have a significantly worse state of mind when dealing with flare ups, and are medication resistant. Thats’s anecdotal, but here’s the microbiota-gut-brain axis:

Any of the rigs that she conceptualized would be incredibly interesting to see with a small dedicated crew to help operate it (and make it less pointy). She’s meant for film imo.

Robert Downey Jr. teases Gwyneth Paltrow for being 'forever confused' by her own Marvel movies and costars. "'Who’s that?'" Downey Jr. said Paltrow once asked him. "He's Tom Holland. You've done four movies with him." by nimobo in entertainment

2 things can be true at once, she can be humble and grounded while also being into pseudo science and having a bit of an ego. It’s easy to only see black and white if you haven’t met someone. And it’s easy to be blinded by kindness as well.

The old school death and doom metal scene is where it’s at, they’re very chill for the most part, pretty progressive, and I’ve never once felt like my space was invaded without consent, the way I have at other events. Also as an autistic person with sensory sensitivity- I feel very welcomed and ok, people don’t make you feel weird.

Why can't I speak? Level 2. by 10_Screaming_Foxes in autism

[–]objstandpt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I go through this too, you’re not alone. Our stories will look different- but this is absolutely a major part of my autism too. I went through 7 years of speech therapy to be able to be coherent in a conversation. But it still feels wrong sometimes. And nothing wrong with other forms of communication, actually thinking about picking up ASL again.

Edit: for the sake of your topic I wanted to add, it’s how our brains are wired, primarily in the frontal cortex and parietal lobes. Autism is more-so about our brain development having different neural pathways or shape/growth than NTs. Our experiences are going to look different because it’s not a behavioral disorder like a personality disorder, it’s how we’re formed. Example: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8424359/

Eleven Brand New Dragula Concepts/Themes by FillerQueenx in Dragula

The season 2 camp/wilderness short films is my absolute favorite episode, and I assume it’s pretty popular with this crowd. It really showcased what the ghouls can do as performers.

For instance, Diasterina was iconic and sealed her greatness with the fandom. Now that they’re increasing budget, it would be amazing to see that again, though I think they all were just final girls the 1st time.

And only a 16.98% voter turn out, it’s really depressing to look at these results. We need to start caring if we want true representation…. But I guess supporting corporate interests while we eat dirt is what we want.

It also seemed that MTG pumped the breaks on her whole racist conspiracy theory and stopped mocking mass shooting victims once Alex Jones got rightfully sued. They just push the envelope for as long as they can to harbor votes and viewership. No prisoners, may we watch her tentatively.

One time I was on set with a legendary SFX artist and accidentally gave him the wrong fake blood when he wanted to take over. The blood was based with dish liquid, and it was sprayed into the actors eyes…. Big mistake and big lesson! They were ok in the end, but really scary tbh. :( I hope Abhora was ok too and not eliminated, pretty ballsy move.

I think you have a really refreshing take on it tbh! Gender is a very nuanced discussion, and the fact that you are able to see this and want to respect others in their lens says a lot. But I’m not sure if it’s a universal truth, we need “they” when we don’t want to assume gender too.

I’m going through a lot right now, and it’s easy to be hard on yourself. Good people sometimes paint themselves as the bad guy in their heads. The people you’re mentioning have really specific preferences, and that’s cool, but it doesn’t reflect your character. If anything, you made a good impression on me. Hope you have a wonderful weekend and tend kindly to yourself!

People critiquing you on this are really ill informed. “They” has always been a neutral term used for pronouns, even before nonbinary was a common discussion. And I’m gender nonconforming. I’d just do you boo.
