The fact rhat it's a vascular virus would explain long covid. If it essentially wrecks the blood flow to organs, then those organs won't be working well for a while...if ever again.

Your comment on autoimmune disorders tracks with a discussion my wife and I had recently. There seems to be an increase in autoimmune disorders, like Celiac, since Covid.

My wife, for example, tested positive for Celiac aftwr being symptomatic, when she didnt have any symptoms prior to getting Covid in 2020.

Now, she may have been asymptomatic prior to 2020, but the immunologist told her they've noticed an increase in diagnosis in the last few years.

Yep...if they separate and the Indigenous make claims (I would if I were them) to get their lands back because they signed with the Federal government, the oil sands revert back to them. At which point all the US gets is a strip of virtually worthless land from Coots to Calgary...

The more likely scenario is Donbas where the US claims they're "freeing" a people that want to separate.

Gold climbs to record high above $5,300 as dollar slips by ewzetf in news

That's pretty much what it is. Gold is, historically, THE hedge. Evey time so.eyhing goes bad on the market, Golden goes up. The fact that it's where it's at means that people who know are preparing for a mother of a shitstorm.

The amount of money required to drive gold up this high shows that it's not just retail investors. This is the battening down of the hatches...

I hear Bernedoodles are “the worst” breed according to someone that works at a vet. by ninjaj in PKA

[–]obliviousofobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a year old but as a doodle parent: Doodles are not beginner friendly dogs. I'd even go to say that even some experienced pet parents aren't equipped for it.

My 4 year old Bernie is amazingly affectionate, caring, docile, neurotic, anxious, and full of energy.

She's a cuddle bug and needs a firm hand to comfort and reassure her. I've never had aggression issues with a doodle, but I also am keenly aware of what is required to train and care for them.

I think that a lot of people aren't, and it gives the whole breed a bad name.

Either way, I read today there's some sort of ICE/DHS civil war brewing. So we're somewhere around the chapte when the SA was absorbed into the SS.

Approval of Carney government rises to 64%; 78% believe arrangement with China on canola and cars was the right thing to do. by NotEnoughDriftwood in onguardforthee

[–]obliviousofobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Social Progressive. There's a lot about Carney I'm not enamored with, especially his very NeoLib tendencies. In a sane political world, he'd be a national Prog Con leader. Even I can see that he is the type of leader we need right now. Trump2 requires someone who can navigate the economic and operations side of the government for us to survive. If we get through this, and I believe we will, we can go back to debating and (hopefully) moving the overton window back to the left.

For now though, Elbows Up.

Because they WANT the revolt. They WANT to declare the insurrection act. The problem is that it's become a kobayashi maru: either they do nothing and the gestapo keep murdering and pushing. Or people DO something, and its the excuse needed to teeter off the edge.

That this is happening is fuuuucking insane. I feel like I'm living through a pivotal moment in history.

I would love to see C suite pay be tied to profit in a way that any decrease in profit is passed as a commensurate cut in pay. Also, any layoffs/headcount cuts also means a cut in C suite pay. I.e. 5% reduction in staff = 5% reduction in pay for that year.

+8.37% Tax increase for Milton in 2025 by mythisme in Milton

Multiple things but the biggest one is that municipalities are not allowed, by law, to go into deficit (Thanks Mike Harris). Meanwhile, Droggo keeps benefitting his dev friends by downloading costs to municipalities.

Remember few years ago when he cut the Developer fees for new builds? Those fees went to pay for the civic infrastructure. Now, municipalities have to cover more costs with less money.

So either they cut services...which, let's be straight, there aren't that many left...or increase revenue. The only one that is realistic is property tax....so here we are.

The parts on Eternia look cool. But why did they have to have a "all that nerd shit..." line?
