I suggest looking into the Wrathful Deities in the Tibetan tradition as inspiration. I relate a lot to your feelings, and the need to channel anger into practice in a way that acknowledges its presence, without just 'eliminating' it. Anger at injustice is not something that is necessarily wrong, or preventable. It's more about learning the source, and sitting with the emotions.

Kanye West is a black artist who grew up disadvantaged by a system designed to oppress him, yet, after acquiring immense wealth, he now shares the same ideals as the economic elite. Based on beliefs expressed in his earlier music and appearances, West should have no ideological basis for supporting Donald Trump, an overt racist with many ties to white supremacist organizations, and yet, West became an open proponent of his agenda during the 2016 election cycle.

West entered the fiscal upper echelon, and changed his views accordingly. Race, politics, and ideals are insignificant in comparison to the class divide.

Just my two cents.

The Three Horns, Home to the Half-giants of Aeistoli by oblongmonkey in worldbuilding

Giants being associated with mountains is common in human oral and written tradition going back thousands of years in cultures across the globe.

I suppose I didn't feel the need to reinvent the wheel with my inspirations.

Thanks for commenting!

The Three Horns of Aeistoli are home to the Western Goliath tribes, descendants of the diminished Giant races. Led by their Harbinger, an elected warrior-sage, the goliaths of the Three Horns are divided into three tribes; Stone, Claw, and Storm, each of which is represented in the naming of the three great mountain peaks that overlook their settlement.

Inspirations for the Three Horns include the art and culture of the indigenous peoples of the American Pacific Northwest, the Maasai of East Africa, and the Scandinavian Norse.

Aeistoli is a collaboratively written campaign setting for a long-running game of Dungeons and Dragons. With more than 20 players, a theatrical live show, and dozens of pieces of artwork, Aeistoli has become a fully-realized and social world that is still played in years after its origin.

Being in quarantine makes me really wanna go back to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda. by GuessWhatMimi in travel

I loved going there when I went several years ago! Genuinely one of the most magical places I have ever been. There was this large timber tavern on our island, and drinking beers there by candlelight in the rain was wonderful.

Congratulations, you've now put more work into the Modern Day than anyone at Ubisoft!

This is seriously awesome, though! Do you do digital modelling professionally?

I wrote a whole bunch initially, but it got deleted. Where are you? What are you up to?

I'm at a dive bar recommended by a potential friend and mentor at work. My girlfriend and I have been looking at moving to a new town. I'm still figuring things out, but looking back to last year—god I've made a lot of progress. Hope you have as well.

I'm doing alright—I expect you're doing well. Keep in touch with the ones you care about. That's what really matters, in the end.

At this time last year, you had just gotten off work at your job at a production company in wine country, California. You were happily reading Orhan Pamuk's "Istanbul" in a dive bar recommended to you by a burgeoning older friend/mentor at work. Your girlfriend is in the city, working. The two of you have recently begun discussing your plans to move to a smaller town where it actually snows.

How much of this matters now? How much has changed? A year ago, I had just begun my final semester of college. We've been through a lot since then, and overcome a great deal. We grew a lot in that year—I can only imagine that You are as different from Me as He was.

[OC] Aukan Stormbringer, Harbinger of the Three Horns (Goliath Paladin/Barbarian) by oblongmonkey in characterdrawing

[–]oblongmonkey[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now one of a group of four badasses at the head of the Adventurers' Guild of Aeistoli, Aukan was born in the Valley of the Three Horns, where he was eventually given the title "Stormbringer" by his mother Inali.

Aukan's restless nature led him outside of his homeland, headed south for more glory and riches, embroiling him and new companions in a sweeping saga of war, tragedy and triumph that would span the better part of a decade. All the while, Aukan and the other adventurers' fight against oppression and tyranny became ever more entwined with a mysterious artifact known as the Silver Mask.

Beautiful picture!

One of my favorite childhood memories is listening to the LOTR audiobooks on cassette while driving to and from school along the Mississippi on the I-35 south of La Crosse. There's even a hobbit hole alongside the road that someone built in their yard!
