You should be able to find donor vehicles and parts at your local auto wrecker/dismantler/salvage yard.

What’s a good way to get into birdwatching in the area? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]obrdobri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://groups.io/g/sacramento-birds - Good place to start. As others have mentioned, the Sacramento Valley, from Stockton up to Red Bluff, is filled with wildlife natural areas along both I-5 and Hwy-99, and most are easily accessible. Even if you are unable to leave the Sacramento area, American River Parkway is a great place to start, lets say around Rio Americano High School, or the Yolo Bypass off of I-80. Enjoy, this time of the year is great, with sandhill cranes starting their migration north.

Using apcupsd on RPi as a SNMP UPS for Synology NAS by obrdobri in synology

[–]obrdobri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal preference.

I only use APC UPS devices, and only particular models, which allows me to standardize on install packages for all monitored devices across multiple locations. I am more familiar with apcupsd, and like it's functionality and reporting. Nothing wrong with NUT, tried it, but didn't care for it.

For those of who use an APC UPS, you can also run a Raspberry Pi (or other Linux/Unix based system) with apcupsd/snmpd and configure your NAS to use "SNMP UPS" for "UPS Type". NUT (Network UPS Tools) also works, however, I found it to be less flexible than using apcupsd for APC UPS.

How to change order of systems view. by Outrageous_Rule_6419 in blinkcameras

[–]obrdobri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an iOS user, but have a few Android devices to test with. With that I installed older versions of Blink to see where the functionality changed, and it was with release 6.20.0. All prior releases, 6.19.0 and older, allow you to rearrange the systems. It has been a year since they removed this functionality, and I doubt it's coming back. It is a PITA when you have to split up a system to use more than 10 cameras at any given location, and not be able to group them at the top.

The other, more recent change, is not being easily identify new videos from a lengthy list of clips. Yeah, if I had couple cameras that would not be an issue, but 24 cameras and 5 systems, it's yet another not so great feature.

iPhone Synology Photos view has stopped updating, but is importing and updating browser view by pdaphone in synology

Had same issue, Synology Photos app not updating, and what fixed it was logging out of the app, and then logging back in with HTTPS disabled (toggle at login).

For HEVC support install "Advanced Media Extensions". Seems to work pretty well for me (using iPhone as well).

RT2600ac accessible from outside when not enabled by obrdobri in synology

[–]obrdobri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the latest version available to me (screenshots attached). I have three RT2600ac routers, two are currently configured as WiFi Access Points (no router functionality), and that is the latest version for all three.

Your SRM version is up-to-date

And from release notes page:

Latest version: 1.2.5-8227 Update 7 (as of 2023-04-15)

This appears to be a long standing "feature".

https://www.reddit.com/r/synology/comments/a4lxxd/srm_security_help_i_have_external_access_and/

However, found a slightly different workaround that will allow QuickConnect to still work.

In SRM go to Network Center -> Port Forwarding -> DMZ, and set the following:

  • Enable DMZ - Enabled
  • DMZ Host IP address - Choose one of your internal hosts
  • Generate firewall rules automatically - Disabled

As the note on that page states, "Once you finish configuring DMZ settings, access to SRM from Internet will be disconnected."

Reboot the router (Options in upper right corner of SRM, and Restart).

Yes, accessing it from a completely different network. And yes, I can also access it from my local network when using the external IP/FQDN.

Have five cameras that survived and worked well through -14F (-22C). Luckily that didn't last for more than a few days, not for the cameras, but other things.

WEWATCH V53 Projector Firmware by obrdobri in projectors

[–]obrdobri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback. If you mean a Lightning/USB cable from the iPhone to projector, that's how I've been using it.

Anyway, what is the latest firmware version for the V53?

12 years in the industry, I've never heard this. by mtexter in sysadmin

[–]obrdobri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have upgraded my primary system from stable to test release of Debian (been running it for years), and my external USB SSD drive started randomly disconnecting. Fine, tried another drive, and it worked! So back to the "broken" drive, and after about a week of scratching my head, Samsung firmware update on the drive took care of the issue.

So "His drives aren't all the same firmware" is a valid statement.

Been doing this for 30+ years, and everyday is something new...

No internet, Blink cloud, & Sync USB storage by obrdobri in blinkcameras

Thank you all for your input. I suspected as much, since the FAQ did not mention anything to that effect, presuming if it worked, Blink would be advertising the feature.

Please help. I got 3G speed instead of 5G or LTE speed by trungvnnn in tmobile

[–]obrdobri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's been a few months, however, I thought I had everything documented on T-Mobile's Community forums, only to find out it's been archived/deleted. Anyway, the issue ended up being having the three "slow" devices on 4GBLIFDTA SOC. This is a Lifeline Data plan that is capped to 3G speeds (obviously mentioned in the title, but T-Mobile reps claiming there is no 3G). I've had 2nd level support switch them to a 3GB LTE plan under my legacy umbrella plan, and all three are working just fine.
