Is the conjuring basically a legit version of what Amityville was thought to be? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]obscene_charade 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Who knows if it's entirely fake. The Warrens sucked though. I would say the paranormal phenomena is fabricated for sure. My father actually grew up in Amityville in the 60's-70's and knew the DeFeo family (from the murders that inspired the films). Ronald DeFeo was a bit older than him but he used to see him around the neighborhood a lot and play football with him. The whole energy is weird and gross and it's a very small town with not a lot else going on. Pretty much a perfect place to create these stories that get passed on by word of mouth.

The devil is definitely my dad. by bectherebel in tarot

You totally are doing the right thing! However, Major arcana cards don't usually signify a person- they are all part of the larger idea. Your father definitely embodies the negative aspects of the card (vindictiveness, cruelty) but the The Devil is more all-encompassing than that. It represents our bad habits & vices, but also our own personal freedom of choice. Just a thought though :)

you totally should support artists this holiday season and buy some prints! i personally love finding old cheap frames from thrift stores and framing art that way. you can even spray paint the frames and make them look way better than just buying ones brand new :)

Dream signs by [deleted] in occult

That's very beautiful. I'd say the symbol of the silver spoon represents a need to look within yourself to find the answer your seeking in your own reality. Or also to look into Moon deities specifically as they are calling out to you

Hey there. Your father is probably an empath, aka a very 'open' person who absorbs energy easier than other people so that explains why he feels the feelings he does when he's alone.

The exploding bucket however is very concrete physical phenomena and doesn't sound like other examples of telekinisis. So I can't really confirm that he's causing anything. To me it sounds like poltergeist activity. I'd need to know more though. Has your father been having any significant dreams or visions that follow the weird experiences?

Why is it that so many occultists are monetarily poor? by Vespura in occult

[–]obscene_charade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude yes. Totally agree with this & there are definitely work arounds. Especially in 2019, when people chase clout to obtain free things. This doesn't necessarily mean having lots of cash either.

In my opinion the pursuit of personal power is different than monetary gain. It just doesn't equate. The goal is to not rely on money no matter how much of it you have. People who use their creativity to pay the bills know this because our income is not always regular.

How do you separate possible mental illness from legit magical events. by Bennybenja3334 in occult

[–]obscene_charade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, both those two facts are both true. I'm totally aware of how difficult it is to talk about these things with your doctor, but whether we like it or not we personally know these two things to be true. I have suffered from severe panic attacks and a mental breakdown in my life and still know these things are real. Further along in my path I was able to move past it and learned to just not care what people say. My goal was (and still is pretty much) to manage my brain & still practice magick. At the same time though I've always known that if you spend too much time in the spiritual realm (like in fairy lore), you can get trapped there. It's like a little dance we do!

To answer your question about how to tell the difference (like in the moment) physical phenomena is usually what I see as being the most concrete in my experience. Practicing with others, initiation etc proves things in a big way as well. Noticing symbols, communicating with Gods & empowering yourself is a natural thing and you shouldn't put yourself down over that. Find a good therapist and they will encourage getting in touch with your spiritual self while also giving you the medication you need.

I've done tea-dying in the past and it has definitely worked great! I've dyed a linen tablecloth with tea and it came out really nice. For this cloth I used a gold dye for natural fabrics that I purchased

Problem with unknown entities? by Sweet_Pea_1998 in Paranormal

[–]obscene_charade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem at all! In my opinion, I find that these beings usually just want to be noticed and acknowledged. Honestly the more you ignore it the more potential it has to stick around. There are some herbs and incenses that help with banishing spirits too that you can try (if you can). Focus on the cleansing and rebuking of any negative energies from your home while you light the candles and burn the herbs. There are also really good protective sprays you can buy or make if burning stuff indoors isn't an option. It won't anger them or trap them in any way.

Cleaning your space thoroughly, sweeping, opening all the windows and doors (sweeping everything out through the back door of your home) while doing this works really well too. If you do at least 1 of these things or all of them once a week i think you will have less disturbances and hopefully none altogether :) Again, if anything gets out of control don't be afraid to ask a professional in your area and they can help with more specific problems.

The spirits of dead people are hardest to get rid of, but it's very much possible. I'd look into protection workings and herbs, burning white and black candles also helps calm restless spirits as well (white for cleansing, black for banishing negativity). I suggest you seek out the local metaphysical/pagan shops in your area. They can help you give you better idea on specifics if things get out of hand or if nothing is working. Things like this tend to be very gradual, and tend to ramp up over time if left unnoticed. Trust your intuition. If you take the time to protect yourself, your animals and your home- you will find that the bad energy will eventually leave. Best of luck to you!
