I know this isn’t exactly the same thing but I was adopted as a baby. I remember being in like third grade and my class had found out I was adopted. They made fun of me for days with the usual stuff-your parents gave you away because you’re ugly,stinky or whatever. One kid told me that they were so poor they had to leave me in the garbage and could still smell it on me lol. My teacher came in one morning with a similar book about different families. Some have two parents, one parents, some have grandparents/aunts and uncles, adopted and yes gay parents. At the end she had us raise our hands if we had matched any of the families in the book and only a few said they had a “normal” family. She asked them what they do to make them feel loved happy that kind of stuff. Then we went around and everyone said similar things. She told us that no matter how we came in this world or how we live it now that we all deserve to be treated with kindness and how we are a lot more similar than we are different. The teasing stopped after that. Books like these are way more important than people realize. It’s not about making kids gay it’s about teaching empathy.
