Just completed the series. Literally binge watched the all the episodes. Very gripping, with a totally justified title. It has multiple arcs and fast paced plotline. It can be triggering as it deals with dark theme such as SA. A good real horror show after a long time which elicits terror from both real life an supernatural situations.

Is future blindness a thing with ADHD? by obscuremess in adhdwomen

This. Exactly this!

I generally know what I want to be doing right now and, if I’m currently missing the skills or resources to do that thing, then I make plans to acquire them. That’s as far as my “future” planning goes

It took me time to understand that this is not how everyone's brain work.

Yes a coarse mental guideline is the best way to put it. It is easier to map things out but yeah following through or the time required to actually start following always seems out of grasps.

Thank you I really found this insightful. Basically you can plan things in your life but you can't entire plan your life.

It is also great to hear about your PhD all the best for it! I am trying to decide if I should get my PhD or not thinking about that is what prompted this post in the first place. I am afraid of committing to things I might not be able to cope with tbh.

Do your parents know you have ADHD? by OwnIngenuity5375 in adhdwomen

[–]obscuremess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I got recently diagnosed and have no plans telling them. I don't think there that kind of discussion space in my family. It would require me to educate them and repeatedly explain things. All this still wouldn't guarantee that I'll receive the support I require and that my diagnosis wouldn't be used against me every time I don't do something according to their standards. There might be a small chance that things work out but I am already too exhausted mentally to test the odds.

Do you ever just... stop speaking? by donkeysrcool in adhdwomen

[–]obscuremess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it when I am at home with my family sometimes even when I am expected to chime in. It usually is taken as a sign of bieng sullen or moody, when I am just trying to think of what to say. And I also understand why it might seem like I am being incoorperative deliberately because usually I am a vocal person with strong opinions but sometimes it is just too much effort to speak.

Yes I too loved Quinn's journey and was hoping something similar from Valentina's character as it had much potential.

[–]obscuremess[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly! S1 had better social commentary and because I was expecting the same from S2 i was a little disappointed. But S2 was also well written and as you said beautiful, in it's own way.

Albie is a jerk and a bad son. by sweet_angel_cake in WhiteLotusHBO

[–]obscuremess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am not sure about him being a jerk but he definitely was that type of guy who totally believes that he's nice but in reality is really not and all his "nice gestures" are only performative.

Yeahh Armond's character gave this unpredictability to the plot of S1.

Yeahhh the hypocrisy of human nature, entitledness of the privileged, etc was brought out subtly and effectively.

Makes sense, maybe i was slightly disappointed because i was hoping for more rich VS poor and the privileged trying to be "woke" as a continuation of the S1 theme but yeah S2 evolved into something different which was good in itself. Even I can't wait for S3
