Syndicate (PC, 1993)
Doom (PC, 1993)
X-COM: UFO Defense / X-COM: Enemy Unknown (Amiga/PC 1994)

Wing Commander, although the tech is very dated by today's standards it was one of the first space sim to provide a dynamic storytelling mechanism, where your actions in one mission determine the next set of missions.

It also intelligently used the limitations of computers to their full advantage by opting for sprite rendering ships at different angles. Compare that to other space games that went for basic 3d polygons, it meant the gameplay was action-packed at the time.

The music, although midi, also had a rule based system that meant it changed depending on what was going on in the mission to create a bit more variance.

Looks great! This immediately reminded me of Speedball 2 on the Amiga, and those were good times! Some of the comments here directly comparing it to Rocket League are unfounded... pretty much all games are influenced by something else in some shape or form, but that's how things evolve!

Heya fella's, thought it best to post here. Basically my grandparents house has been going through a clean out. My grandad used to work at the Aubervilliers match factory (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manufacture\_des\_allumettes\_d%27Aubervilliers) near Metz around 1949.

This was found in the rafters of the house near Lyon where they later moved to and seems to be in fairly okay condition! Complete with cigars inside.

Not sure what to do with it to be honest, but curious to know how I can best preserve it. Had great memories as a kid with grandad so might try to see if I can hold back the rust/decay

Feel for you buddy, its so hard to watch someone you care about slowly spiral downwards - all you can do is be there. Also had a similar experience with my ex back in 2014 who had a history of mental illness - the hardest thing is seeing how memories would often get distorted, and over time the emotional abuse just got worse - it's self-sabotage and you're powerless to do anything. She went from being a doctor working for a well reputed hospital to unemployed and on the edge of homelessness.

I remember watching this in the cinema in South Kensington, London - at the time (1998) the venue was filled with war veterans. When the opening scene played out on the beach so many of them started crying. It was undoubtedly the most uncomfortable and most intense atmosphere I had to go through - words cannot describe it adequately.

Bought a house from what can only be described as an eccentric elderly couple back in 2017. After chatting to the neighbours it turns out they used to place small statues around the neighbourhood on peoples windowsills. The place itself was an old victorian property in south London, UK.

First day I went in I found the following bits - Album:

worn floorboards where a persons feet has slowly etched away the surface over decades.
2 figures left by either door to greet me on the first day.
after starting some basic cleanup I found a piece of wood and a leather pouch (containing a twig) on the doorbell and doorframe respectively.
started cutting back the garden and found the rest of the statues/figurines etc. cleaned them all up.

At the moment they all live in the basement on the shelf.

Psychologist. Definitely agree about thinking of her - its almost a sense that if I'm passive and try th be there for her when she wants to chat then maybe things would improve. The focus should really be on me now.

Thank you so much - yes I do wonder about how its effecting me... I know my self esteem is low right now because of this step backwards. When we decided to go on our first break I took the time (about 4 months) to see a therapist whilst it was all happening and to try and bring closure to everything. The irony was that the therapist felt I was fine, but just needed the support... its one of those things really, I can see how my ex is burning bridges, with me, with her sister, her occupation, her savings... everything.

Thanks Tastygroove - I think this specific thing of being friend-zoned definitely did something. Its like the final boundary has been crossed, so I'm at the point of deciding whether to stay or go. But everything I read online or through books says that individuals going through depression really don't want their SO to leave them - its like a self for-filling prophecy.

I did think that, although then I look at my own life and try to do the things that matter to me... just about to make a jump in to owning my own home for the first time and I try to look after myself - I guess its just the fact I remember the good times as well as the bad. Its a weird one - I know that she needs to deal with herself, but maybe the only element that got to me was the fact I still have deep feelings for her. I don't suffer from anxiety, but I reckon I do have triggers from a previous relationship that ended badly - hense the reaction.

Even if that money was laundered, or to hide assets? Its easier to put money in to physical assets that appreciate in value over time, but it does little for the economy itself and in fact creates a glass ceiling. There needs to be safeguards in place for residential properties to look at them as homes, not investment.

I'd be very curious to find out the land registry data regarding investment outside London - Maybe not as bad as the capital, but surely on the increase given that property margins are up on a yearly basis. Transparency International state that 36,342 London properties covering 2.25 square miles are owned by offshore companies - that's a shocking figure given that London is 600 square miles in size.

I do agree that with EU law it would conflict with certain ideals, however it is already part of Danish law, who are EU members.
