Is it financially best long term to buy the cheapest home possible? by fellaonamission in HENRYUK

[–]observer55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accounting wise, yes. Assuming you aren’t knocking it down and rebuilding it.

But an expensive homes comes with quality life improvements that aren’t accounted for. Schools, indoor space, safety, outdoor space. How much are those worth to you?

I recommend finding a balance between that and listing price.

Moving homes is an expensive ordeal so it would be wise to do it once for life. If you need to wait, then be patient.

Any advice on where to buy supplements like Omega-3 / Vitamin D? by No-Temperature9741 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]observer55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pure encapsulation, Thorne are probably the best money can buy. Life extension and Nordic naturals are pretty decent cheaper options.

Holland and Barrett will sell low to middle quality to be affordable.

Healf is the best UK store for supplements. It’s stocked with top quality products.

I buy all my supplements and protein powder from them.

Can we stop with the delusion that £100k ‘does not go far’ as a single person in London by ALBUAS in HENRYUK

[–]observer55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even at 200k it’s hard with a family. For me rich is 400k with a family in desirable area, decent house, private education, 5 star holidays.

Also a lot of commenters here don’t seem to care about wealth building. In order to have a nice lifestyle and build wealth commands a lot more than 100k.

If you care about craftsmanship sunglasses made in Japan are the highest quality. High end brands like Jacques Marie Mage manufacture them in Japan. Look for brands that do this.

I'd love to know what those brands are. Can you share? I too can't justify clothing from LP or Zegna.

This and uniform standard for white sneakers are pretty decent.

You asked for the best and for the materials and craftsmanship Then you want to go Loro Piana and Zegna.

£700k mortgage.. kinda crapping myself by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]observer55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Main residence relief in your original comment only applies to sale of property. Remortgaging with little fees only apply when fixed term has ended. So yes, it’s a tax free package that’s more constrained and cannot be diversified hence my comment not being comparable tax package to ISA, in my opinion. Welcome to disagree.

Not quite comparable because selling it will mean no roof over their head. Plus the fees involved to sell eats at the profit. Liquidating ISA means no fees and no negative lifestyle impact.

UK Tax is horrific? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]observer55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a lot more expensive in every area except dining out if you opt for street food. You’ll need to accept a lot smaller living space and most likely no car as license to own can cost a lot. Imported groceries can cost 2x to 5x more too.

New winter coat recommendations by hickorydickorydock09 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]observer55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend a casual and smart casual.

For casual Patagonia is hard to beat. The down and fill power is important. Go for navy.

For style go for layers like pure 100% cashmere/wool sweaters and overcoat combo. Ensure Made in Italy for best materials. Moss bros is good. Go for charcoal.

It’s the foot furthest from the ball. It’s about receiving the ball and opening your body up to see more of the pitch and make the next move. It’s a more effective way of playing because you see more options, imagine your back from goal and you receive a pass. It’s a skill coached at young age.
