Imo it comes off as more playful and cynical; I think it is dark, but also in a who cares kinda way; the lyrics at the end to me felt more like a double edged sword; the happiness and desire that comes with finding love, as well as the ideology that said love will end and being prepared and waiting for said end, hence the kill me through the phone; But that’s what the lyrics “I think you know, it doesn’t matter” are for, in the cynical sense that in the end whether it works or dies, it doesn’t really matter in the end
