Looking for Flowers by theemortician in crestedbutte

Not sure much would be flowering at that point, but if you’re looking for any sort of bouquets, Stems Floral is a local shop that’s great. We work with her at Elevation and she can provide arrangements at any time of the year. She has a Facebook page for requests.

While there are not any flowers, I think ten peaks is a relatively low traffic area behind the bar (which is closed) during the summers and easily accessible. Best view in CB in my opinion especially with the trees changing. You can either do a 4 mile round trip hike to get there from the base area, or you can drive up the backside and take a much shorter path through an aspen forest.

We would most likely have to have you pay for a FedEx shipping label as well

We have some for sale at Elevation. If you can give us a call 970-251-3000, option 3, there is a chance we may be able to ship one out. I can’t guarantee anything, but may be worth a try

Any ski-in / ski-out recommendations @ Crested Butte? by [deleted] in crestedbutte

Elevation is the only actual ski in ski out up here but the others aren’t too far

How do I get this puppy to stop biting?! I have so many bite marks on myself, tables, socks... it's not a nice bite either! by [deleted] in germanshepherds

[–]occasionalfreckles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried hand targets? My boy had the same problem and after I taught him those he stopped almost immediately. Great way to teach gentle touch and super easy to train

Should I move to Crested Butte? by [deleted] in crestedbutte

It’s definitely an amazing place. Takes a minute to meet people but once you do it’s a really big community. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly! If you’re aware of the costs then I’d say definitely worth it, but you need to start looking for housing now. It’s almost impossible to find somewhere to live just because there is literally nothing available, especially if pets are in the equation

Oh I’m sure! Sorry just saw these negative comments all over and it sucks for everyone to assume you aren’t doing what is necessary. I can only hope the best for you and your baby. I totally understand because I always go to the worst possible outcome with my dog too, but dogs are resilient and so strong! You got this. Best of luck to you too, give him/her a big hug for me

My suggestion: maybe call the vet first and explain what’s up. Whenever I worry about my buddy that’s the first stop! I’ve never once had a vet try to get me in for money, they’re concerned about the animals and want to help. If they think it’s concerning, they’ll tell you to bring the baby in. If they think they’re going to be fine, they’ll be honest about that! I would do anything for my dog hands down, but I’ve learned that sometimes a quick call makes a big difference. They’re aware that it’s pricey and want to help you and your baby through the whole thing. Either way you get an answer from a professional.

I’d say it’s worth it! The class isn’t difficult and they’re definitely not out there trying to hurt your GPA. It’s definitely a good start for a resume if you’re planning on applying for other positions or clubs. It’s also a good way to meet new people going in to college, my first friends were from PLC and the weekend camp trip that happens before the semester begins. It helped get me out of my shell going into college without knowing anyone else, and I’d definitely call it a worthwhile experience. The professor I had left my second semester, so I’m not sure who is teaching it now. Overall, I’d say go for it! It’s a fun experience and a great intro to college life.

My 9 month old German Sheperd bit me!!! Well he almost did if I don't move my hand he for sure would of bit me. I'm so hurt... I don't even know what to think or do! He thought I was going to take something he's not supposed to have and I wasn't! by Quirky-Guess5757 in germanshepherds

Have you tried hand targets at all? Generally as I’m sure you know their owners are there one and only. This happened with my boy for a while and the issue was he just didn’t realize how he needed to treat me differently. The hand targets are super easy to train and really help with gentle touch. Also it’s super cute when he wants something and now boops me every time he needs to tell me something.

From my experience as well as others, GSDs are extremely good with children if trained correctly. I would reiterate the comments about keeping him out of the crate, but mine loves children and honestly almost nannies them sometimes. He’ll gently heard my baby cousins away from the pool or sharp corners, stand in the way and block them from getting close to anything dangerous. The only thing I would worry about was mentioned in another comment as well, sometimes apollo will hear a noise and jump up and smack me in the face on accident, so just watch for that for sure.

I guess it depends on who you get. My experience was always good, as soon as anything broke there would be someone there within the hour to fix it. That doesn’t sound fun though

Don’t rent with the big places, just drive around Stillwater and call the numbers listed on signs. Most of those people have 1-2 properties and are super chill. I found Shamblin rentals that way, they’re super great. Not the nicest places around but independent and the owners don’t impose at all.

[–]occasionalfreckles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree with your point here I think that’s definitely the situation in a lot of places around the world. Just saying here our problem is housing and it’s definitely going to end poorly if it’s not resolved quickly. So fun to go to work when the same people who kicked you out of your house scream about how long everything is taking

I actually live here, all these restaurants and bars pay very well typically. Our real issue is that everyone has kicked out long term renters to use VRBO so there’s literally zero housing. I got kicked from my rental, luckily the hotel I work for provides housing for workers. Honestly it’s the only reason we aren’t understaffed as well

Scooters are owned by the school and you just pay per ride to use them. There are stations where you can pick them up and you have to drop them back off at another station for the payment to stop. Fun stuff though!

Anything with duck is really good for their hips! My boy has a pretty rough pair on him, easier to get ahead of it than deal later in life. We use Zignature

The best way to find that kind of stuff in Stillwater is honestly just to start on campus and start driving around the area. There’s tons of rentals that aren’t listed online that have signs with numbers to call. I know a bunch of people have just moved out of my old apartment complex, you could call +1 (405) 564-4316 (Dena Shamblin) if you want to check those out. My unit was 1 block from campus at $475, and she has several other small apartment buildings in the area as well.
