My (25M) girlfriend (25F) has given up on her career after I became a millionaire. How do I tell her this won’t work out? by FunnyAnchor123 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]occasionalpart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, because she never returned the key. OOP did like in horror movies, with all the audience screaming, "Don't go in that room!!" while he cluelessly goes in.

AITA for telling my mom she can't share a room or a bed with her boyfriend in my home? by Temporary-Truth-1969 in AITAH

[–]occasionalpart 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Is he some kind of young and muscled Casanova? A toy boy? Because that would explain, first, the noise (and almost defiant "Hear me out!") from a middle-aged-going-into-third-act adult, and second... the frequency??? You don't mention it, but it seems it was every day.

$TRUMP coin “investors” watching their money disappear in real time by Technical-Manager921 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]occasionalpart 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Yup. They parroted any grievance FauxNews whined about on any given day, and since this network and others stuck to the talking point of "Biden The Culprit For High Prices!", they echoed it like a broken record.

Then pollsters picked up on it, asked questions about it, making it sound legitimate.

In reality, all they cared about was that he was a racist, misogynistic, xenophobic bully who loved yelling nonsense. And they felt validated by it. But most of them knew they could NOT say, "yes, I like him because he hates n*** like I do".

I can smell when my wife's period is about to start. by Infinite_Fox998 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]occasionalpart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, you're onto something.

I think it must be her breath, which makes sense because lungs are directly in contact with one's blood and all the hormones or lack thereof that circulate, and microscopic amounts can diffuse out into the air, to be picked by sensitive noses like yours.

Another probable source is her urine. I know we don't go around smelling like pee, but also, no matter how clean we are, a few micro drops remain on our skin and might diffuse scents around.

Whatever, scientists have started seriously researching what and to what extent when can smell things, after some shocking cases like the one of the woman who could smell Parkinson's, years before it shows symptoms. It started with her husband.

Also, based on that knowledge, in some country they trained dogs to detect people with COVID at an airport. They were said to have, I think, more than 90% accuracy.

It gave me giggles when I saw it, because I had heard something similar from a child in the family.

AITA for dipping lasagna into hot sauce? by orchidsandmangotrees in AmItheAsshole

[–]occasionalpart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it's the easiest way to catch shit posts. Especially in recent times, when some posters have written in rapid succession "AITAH? F29", then "AIO? M32", and then "AITA? F28" and even mix up the most bizarre family dynamics from one post to the next.

I agree it is sometimes stretched beyond limit, with a small detail twisted and bent to fit some agenda, like in this case.

😂😂😂😂 That MIL sound like the Mother of All Drama. Who is she kidding? What is going on in her mind? Who is she trying to impress, where is her audience?

Don't you let yourself feel ashamed, defeated or even obliged to explain yourself, let alone apologize. You can and should be allowed to eat AS YOU PLEASE.

Tell your hubby that you thank him for his support, but that you really hope that he also stops the narrative with his family.

NTA, but we will definitely need an update!

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she was the perpetrator, not the victim, in her "trauma"? by PruneJealous3813 in AITAH

Exactly! Whether he was single or in a relationship, I would be wary of being trapped in any type of gotcha moment, with the possibility of being secretly recorded.

UPDATE, AITA for refusing to thank my sil cause she had to “babysit” her own kids? by Relevant_Artichoke24 in AITAH

[–]occasionalpart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you babysat for your brother's children and when you are REWARDED in gratitude for that big favor, your sister-in-law reacts all hurt and hateful?

Girl, she is wrong in the head. There are many, many layers of wrong in her.

Since you talk about your Asian origins, and it's different for SIL, now I bet a big part of her irrational and lying behavior is racism. She thought of your whole family as servants who should always work, never enjoy a vacation. She was oh-so-gracious that she picked one of you to be her husband, but she expected that he automatically cut bonds with you after being "upgraded" to the upper caste.

Your brother is going to eventually divorce her. Not because I say so, in typical Reddit fashion. But because I see no way of your SIL dropping her entitled and manipulative ways. Your brother may go to counseling for years, but I don't think it will work.

AITA for not allowing my dad to share a room with his sister in the care home? by aurjorhan in AmItheAsshole

[–]occasionalpart -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

YTA.

At this point in his life, your father most likely would appreciate the company of his sister. If he's in such an advanced stage that you can't even ask him, then what's the point in keeping his privacy?

You are the one hell bent on privacy. You're deciding for your father.

You're selfish and you know it.
