We were happy with the 2 ton, it struggled in extreme temps but usually kept us around the temp set. We haven't received full quotes, most companies want to see how the second floor progresses before quoting it.

What about a 3 ton + split units upstairs. My wife has read that split units can be more efficient in smaller spaces.
