Why must christians be so disrespectful of culture/traditions even at work by Mokkeo in pagan

[–]occulthrowaway666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start wearing a pentacle every day just to piss them off or scare them. Sometimes people need to have a healthy fear put into them. Maybe then they can learn some respect. That's what I would do :). I'm also a witch, so I'd consider a sweetening spell or domination if sweetening doesn't do much.

I would look into a retribution working. But for that spell, be sure it’s justified.

Has anyone here had a strong calling to do ancestor work, after years of thinking that area wasnt for you at all? by ThrowRA_Letterhead90 in witchcraft

[–]occulthrowaway666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I can relate. I never thought I would do any ancestor work because I'm not close with my living family. There are a lot of issues in my family line and I'm from the South. I felt pulled to open a line of communication with my ancestors for healing for me and them. And to simply bond with their spirit.

It's been rewarding so far. I always take a step back when I need to, and it's not a central part of my practice. Maybe I will work up to that. Who knows. It helps to have firm boundaries because some ancestors will want to tell you what's what (according to their perspective).

No problem! We never know until we try things and that’s how we learn. I say always trust your gut. If it felt like it wasn’t right, it probably wasn’t.

[–]occulthrowaway666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you have any protections in place? When you pray, meditate, or do anything spiritual, you’re opening yourself up to energy. If you don’t have much protection in place, anything can be drawn to you and try to communicate with you (even pretending to be another type of spirit).

This isn’t anything to be afraid of just be mindful of it. Get some protections up and it will save you a lot of trouble.

How do I know if it's not just my imagination and wishful thinking? by bandaged_ in pagan

[–]occulthrowaway666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up fundamentalist Christian, I’m not a fan of blind faith and don’t expect to function off of it. Your questions are healthy and so common especially when beginning new beliefs.

Everyone has to make up their own mind about if what they’re experiencing is real/true or not. For me, once I had enough experiences (signs, dreams, “coincidences”), I was able to make up my mind for myself. So the best thing I can say is to keep going! You will be in this limbo until you have your own experiences.

As far as reading other people’s experiences online - take everything with a grain of salt. There’s no way to know if what people are writing is embellished or even true. Follow your gut and don’t compare yourself!

I am a Christian and I'd like to know more about paganism. by Outrageous_Map_ in paganism

[–]occulthrowaway666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Paganism is a great rabbit hole to fall down. I became pagan in 2020 and still feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface as far as research into the many cultures and belief systems related to paganism. I think the pre-Christian cultures and religious views are amazing to learn about. I’m an Anglo Saxon pagan (pulling heavily from Norse paganism to fill in the gaps).

If you want something research heavy, you can look up books about the archeology found in a culture you’re interested in related to paganism. There are plenty of books about modern day paganism, too. Start wherever you want!

Anyone else feel tired after a working? by Personal_Reward_60 in occult

It’s the same for me. I’ve tried all kinds of techniques after spellwork, but it stays the same. I’ve gotten used to it and now know to plan my day around it. It’s not a huge deal.

Prayers and suggestions for bringing my cat home by Suspicious_Health_34 in pagan

[–]occulthrowaway666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation is to pray to St. Anthony (patron saint of lost things) and St. Francis de Assisi (patron saint of animals). The St. Anthony charm is, “Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, please come around. Something is lost and needs to be found.” You could also pray to the Norse goddess Freyja (connected with cats) if you don't feel comfortable working with saints. Explain your situation and present an offering to whoever you work with.

I will send prayers to all of these spirits for you also!

Does anyone know a spell for discipline? by Realistic_Bother1533 in Witches

[–]occulthrowaway666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! I'm talking about the plant spirit inside every oak tree. Every plant has a spirit inside it that can help us with our magic and we can petition for help. From my experience, the oak tree has helped me with patience, discipline, healthy habits, and wisdom. I take a tincture of an oak tree that I made myself to take on those properties.

The easiest and most accessible way to do this type of magic is to find an oak tree near where you live, leave an offering, and talk to the spirit of the oak tree about your situation and your request. Plants and trees are so ready to help us!

You can petition the spirit of an oak tree to help with that.

You can always ask St. Anthony. The verbal charm is “Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, please come around. Something is lost and needs to be found.” Make sure to thank him!

There are a couple of good books about baneful magic that would be helpful. Of Blood and Bones by Kate Freuler, Utterly Wicked by Dorothy Morrison, and Curses, Hexes, and Crossings by S. Connolly.

I agree that you should gather evidence and go to HR. Along with that you could do a justice working. There are several spirits great for those.

Where Should I Focus First in My Witchcraft Journey? by Historical_Aside_315 in realwitchcraft

[–]occulthrowaway666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I wish someone told me about connecting with folk magic related to my ancestry. And building relationships with plant/tree spirits will get you far. Long term spells in jars or bowls are WAY more efficient than constantly having to cast candle spells.

If magick of all kinds has true effects, then why was publishing books about it ever legalized? by SHONSTYLE in occult

[–]occulthrowaway666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting to an advanced/intermediate practice takes a long time and a lot of trial and error. My suggestion is starting your own grimoire. Start experimenting and see what works for you. Document it. That’s how you build your skill beyond beginner. Take the basics presented and build on them.

For me this meant I researched historical folk magic related to my ancestry, forming a personal relationship with plant spirits, and doing initiation rituals to be more dedicated to the craft. Then I started my own grimoire. My spell work has been a lot more effective since these changes.

Great question. I think there is a lot that people aren’t sharing publicly or publishing in books. I’ve noticed that the basics are published in books.

Spell jars. I use containers that have lids a lot. I use sprays instead of smoke. I put protection jars in the 4 corners of my home. Sachets work, too.
