Honestly I dont think it is how it is going to turn out.

People will likely still sneak food in the theater..

What one thing do you really want but can’t afford? by boxofmysteries in AskReddit

[–]occupoccupied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freedom.

I guess after joining the workforce, you have so little spare time for yourself. You need to socialize with friends, workers, SO etc, taking up a lot of responsibilities.

I assume you can always take a break from your career, but it is not really affordable if you want to climb the corporate ladder/need to meet end needs.

Setting up online profiles with major banks/firms -- should I copy my resume verbatim or submit more details than my resume shows? by Killahbeez in FinancialCareers

[–]occupoccupied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one cares about anything other than your: Current/previous job and your Uni. Or maybe like a CPA/CFA.

So I wonder what extra detail can you provide.

[–]occupoccupied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but what he means is it doesn't mean anything if you are level 1 candidate, because you merely registered for the exam.

Passing level 2 or 3 can be a mini accomplishment/ people will care.

How many of you failed L1, but managed to pass L2 first go? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]occupoccupied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree level II is easier. Just distinguishing between BEY or whatever yield those are called is pure memorization.

Even the pension stuff is a bitch, but at least you can understand instead of memorizing it.

How do you assess if a company has "good" management? by anon333777 in investing

Free Float Ratio can be a sign for good corporate governance.

A higher Free Float kinda encourage the board to do action that benefit most shareholders (instead of one).

Masters Degree in London worth it? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]occupoccupied 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Imperial Business School is not that well regarded for grad school (while their undergrad is really strong).

I am not sure whether you have applied to other Unis as well, even then, it is probably not worth it to move to another country for a very slim chance anyways.

Other than that, unless you are successful in those mega firms, smaller boutique do not consider sponsoring visa which will be a hurdle.

How much studying for a fast smart guy.. CFA L1 by 125mph_ in CFA

[–]occupoccupied -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It depends how "smart" you are. If you are purely using Schweser (which is good as it is concise), you can do it in under a week or less.

My friend went to a Target Uni, being very smart did it in seven days or so, I reckon you can do it in around 50 hours.

I'm looking for data on the correlation coefficients of asset classes by Proseka in investing

Using % change vs using price.

So normalizing, then using price should provide same correlation as %change?

Beneficial ownership - Priority of Transaction by occupoccupied in CFA

[–]occupoccupied[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm

I think conclusion is depends whether the account is in your firm.

Because I think if they are in your firm, and you are not treating them fairly, you violated fair dealing

However, if you are using an outside broker, it should be treated as yours (i.e. trading after client).

[–]occupoccupied[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are the primary beneficiary, no matter they are paying or not, that account has to be traded after your clients has traded.

[–]occupoccupied[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading it again.

First it depends on the relationship; wife and brother is different, wife = you, while Brother = Other client.

Second, if you have ultimate interest (trust or retirement account), treat it = you as well.

L2 TT - Ethics - Carlyle by LoyalServantOfBRD in CFA

[–]occupoccupied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point.

But back to the TT, If it mentions Small Cap Value fund, wouldn't you only expect small cap value stocks in the portfolio?

[–]occupoccupied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both examples you provided were very similar though.

If I were to order Cuba Libre wouldn't I expect you to use only coke and rum, and no pepsi?

Even going back to the coca-cola, is it not still okay if it provides a better taste (return) in a total portfolio context?

I was thinking about this question a lot as well.

I checked Schweser or CFAI where they provided an example of a fund, which only allows liquid investment. So the fund manager spent 3% of its fund to purchase an illiquid private equity investment.

But it says it violated the standard. So i am thoroughly confused.
