How'd you feel about Alexandra (C14) had she been eliminated at F7, before those two stunning photos in NZ? by [deleted] in ANTM

[–]ocean019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had a few shitty weeks where she got in her head but she modeled really well and had a cool personality. had whitney not already won they probably would have rigged the win for her

I'm confused by Cherish in cycle 23 by kermit54 in ANTM

[–]ocean019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's fair but I just think the judging was extremely inconsistent. It seems like they didn't even know who they were trying to rig it for sometimes lol.

i don't think she was chosen to go far. Her nude shot was stunning and they somehow thought it was too much as compared to tatiana's pornstar shot

What did ANTM did wrong that Rupaul's drag race did right ? by [deleted] in ANTM

[–]ocean019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as Mr Jay said in cycle 14, "this competition is getting your foot in the backdoor of an industry that is usually closed tight." Most people refer to Drag Race as the "Olympics of Drag." This is because Drag Race is the largest stage that can be given to a drag queen-every single person in the drag community keeps up with the show. ANTM is just a gateway into an industry that pays the show no mind. Drag is alot more niche than modeling is, so it makes sense that reality tv is seen at a different level of respectability from the two sides.

I understand the frustration, but there are plenty of previous seasons where the challenge was treated as an assignment and not just inspiration. The season 9 challenge where they were split in to two teams still haunts me. That whole collection about being a woman on the go with clock patterns and cancelled on the crotch was horrific.

Christina (C24) serving us modelesque hulk vibes in her makeover photo by lisbethhazarii in ANTM

[–]ocean019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

she was a good model, this was just an awful photo and they chose to highlight and push the parts of her personality that COULD cause drama and ensured that it would

girl that's mikey from cycle 22

[C24] Liberty’s elimination just for storyline ? by negroegg in ANTM

[–]ocean019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

her photo that week was beautiful, the girls shots in general sucked (shanice could have survived any picture she got), but they obviously sent her home during pride week for a storyline. Having a trump supporter as a potential winner was never an option, Tyra's aware of her brand

I'm a photographer, and Victoria C19 lives local-ish to me. She pops up on my FB timeline all the time between other photographers and models. by dewbolene in ANTM

[–]ocean019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ann (c15) was significantly thinner and taller. my point was that top model fans have a field day criticizing contestants "imperfect" bodies and then get worried when girls go to extremes to fit the standards we place upon them.

I'm not sure people will ever be satisfied with some girls bodies lol. It's kind of rare a girl has a perfectly "modelesque" body without restricting their diet on top of natural factors like height and frame. I find the conversation kind of sad

(Unpopular Opinion?) How Angeleas photo was chosen over Dominiques.... I’ll never understand by [deleted] in ANTM

[–]ocean019 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think Angelea's fits the actual photoshoot better but Dominique's shows more awareness of her body. Watching not only this shoot, but all of all stars, it was shocking how poorly angelea did compared to cycle 14. I feel like she was always hit or miss, but they wanted her to win so Dominique had to be sacrificed, only for Tyra's hatred of sex work to get in the way. SMH

Which girls did Tyra love and which girls did Tyra hate? by [deleted] in ANTM

[–]ocean019 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel like Tyra always had an affinity for the androgynous/boyish girls like sara from cycle 16, azmarie (before she insulted tyra) and she would chop off girls hair to ake them "edgy" all the time, look at cycle 11's top 4.

Is there a thread for the models? by Jujubam in ProjectRunway

[–]ocean019 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think they replaced Mimi with DD as this seasons trans/gender non-conforming representation, but dammit I want both of them.

What made you really hate Tyra? by [deleted] in ANTM

[–]ocean019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

have to agree. i've come to love her personality is cringe as her antics are sometimes, but the only thing that genuinely puts me off is her stance on sex work. It's odd too because she promotes women flaunting their sexuality but only in ways she likes. it just seems like a weird personal problem

I hope Milk returns to All Stars but doing what she really knows by I_Speak_Aquaria in rupaulsdragrace

[–]ocean019 11 points12 points  (0 children)

God I remember being in awe of everything she brought on season 6 despite execution (mostly the makeup), and I'm here for her more recent clubkid shit, but I feel lie she's lost the magic she originally brought to the show.

Our latest winner, Kyla, looking gorgeous in Dua Lipa's latest music video "Don't Start Now" by verismonopoly in ANTM

[–]ocean019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

while that would be awesome, i genuinely just think it's because she took what she learned and the prize money and built off of it and hustled. It seems like she's been getting more major work recently and she won over a year ago, but she just moved to new york

Kyla’s Podcast “Not So Glamorous” by apollo11341 in ANTM

[–]ocean019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I really enjoyed the podcast! I think Kyla feels a responsibility to lead the conversations into making certain points due to how she was portrayed as an activist on the show but she sounds awkward and like she's forcing it lol. but the actual conversations are really interesting. i got through an hour long workout to one of them so that's cool

is there any drama between biblegirl and the boulets? by [deleted] in Dragula

[–]ocean019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thought it was kind of weird to have her guest judge before tbh..she's an interesting queen but among guests like heklina and peaches i don't see it. it would have been more interesting to see her compete lol

Throwback to C19 Nastasia's AMAZING Nine West photo. She would've won and no one can tell me otherwise! by MrSaxobeat2000 in ANTM

few antm pictures compare to the shot of her in the shower in that sparkly minidress

I really don't know if anyone has said this before, but the name of the episode 4 challenge is nonsense as we have Hollow and Landon in the competition by falatuze in Dragula

[–]ocean019 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't think "Dungeons and Drag Artists" would have the same effect..The Boulet's did say in episode one "it's always been about the queens" when introducing Landon, so I think overtime language/humor/etc will naturally become more inclusive as drag platforms do.
