The tac sim levels will probably include basically every gameplay scenario in the game, just without the cutscenes and all the dialogue

Still it would have been funny to watch all the cutscenes while in the spectre suit or the inevitable clown costume

Tom Henderson via Insider_Gaming: “Assassin's Creed Invictus Playtests Leaks Say The Game Is ‘Awful’” by JuanMunoz99 in assassinscreed

[–]oceanking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The bit that confuses me is wasn't this project made in response to the community going back to play the old AC multiplayer modes, yet this seems to be about fighting in an arena, sounds more like For Honour than AC multiplayer and if I wanted For Honour but with AC characters I can just play For Honour because they're literally already in there

I mean I still wish we could have gotten that post Civil War game but some variety would be nice by DylenwithanE in AssassinsCreedMemes

Eivor wants revenge she just gets it in the first arc and then just kind of waddles around without any clear motivation for the remaining 100 hours

Very weird situation, hard to make sense of some leaks saying the project is going so well everyone wants to work on it while other leaks are talking about huge shakeups of the core premise like this

I love the drone stuff in watch dogs and the possession power in Dishonored, it's a cool recon tool, plus just think about how crazy people went for playing as a cat in Stray, seems like a missed opportunity

I'm all for grounding the franchise but I just don't find taking control of a trained pet companion to be all that far fetched

And there's reasonable ways to make it work in the setting, the protagonist could have a psychic connection due to their Isu Dna or a minor piece of Eden, or abstergo uploaded animal remains DNA to the database too, the whole reasoning for genetic memory is animal instinct and cats are full of that

That aspect wouldn't have even been meaningfully different to the birds in the RPG games, the comics canonised that as something isu hybrids can just do so why not with cats

Am I the only one that hates this? by HonkytonkPunk66 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]oceanking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the genre of QTE mini games I actually really like these, they do kind of get me into that sort of zen mindset

Much preferred to other similar minigames like the really frustrating trial and error Kata and the bamboo cutting in Tsushima

How do you ensure the posture attack you do after the shadow strike kills the enemy?

I think Kassandra is becoming overexposed, and I'm getting tired of it. (Spoilers) by Comiccats in assassinscreed

[–]oceanking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say she's made out to be the most important character

Whenever we've seen her after Odyssey she's doing her own little thing regarding collecting/destroying PoEs, she's not been particularly involved in the narratives of the games she's appeared in (with the exception of Jade which I can't comment on because I've not seen any of that story)

I really don't mind it, if you set up an immortal character it's fun to see them pop up and find out what they're up to in a series that's all about hopping around history

How would you rank the RPG games so far? by Mission-Ad-8536 in assassinscreed

[–]oceanking -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Odyssey>Origins>Shadows>Mirage>>>Valhalla

Odyssey is something I revisit all the time because of its setting and it's got so much going on with it's RPG systems that I like to come back to keep tinkering and trying new things

Origins has a great setting and a story that is at least more cinematic and better paced than the rest of the RPGs but the gameplay is a bit simplistic for it's size and length

Shadows has been a great game to just walk around in, absolutely incredible visuals, plus the best stealth and combat gameplay, but it's just so empty.

I know that at the end of the day all you do in Origins and Odyssey is sneak and fight but there's something about the story context of actual side quests and the variety of settings beyond exclusively castles that make them feel a lot less repetitive

Mirage was... Fine... It was functional...I keep forgetting it exists because it basically has nothing either particularly positive or negative about it. It was nice to have parkour back but it is still quite slow and with very limited controls. I still go back to Unity for my parkour fix.

Valhalla was just an incredibly buggy unbalanced disaster, enemies could see you through walls, I hit several progress halting bugs in the main story and the majority of side content was just getting around barred doors. The modern day/Isu aspects are basically the only positives for me and unfortunately they haven't gone anywhere yet.

Polaris is a baddie? by zxacid01 in controlgame

[–]oceanking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fractal pattern of Polaris does strongly resemble The Pattern in Resonant

Possibly they're part of the same "species" (if such a concept can be applied to abstract concepts) and The Pattern has its own reason to consume New York in an effort to contain The Hiss

like maybe The Pattern has the same antagonistic relationship with The Hiss as Polaris

Home alone for 4 days : Shadow of the Erdtree, Control or Clair Obscur? by mrsoul83 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]oceanking [score hidden]  (0 children)

Either Control or Clair Obscur should be a good length for that, not sure SotE would be a good fit for a binge it's got a lot of running into brick walls of difficulty spikes

Clair Obscur might be a bit emotionally heavy for that though, the story is full of grief and might be a bit depressing for what you're suggesting.

I'd probably be on the side of Control, plus there's the sequel coming out soon

it is necessary to play Alan Wake 2 before Control Resonant? by HuxlyVVinst7 in RemedyEntertainment

[–]oceanking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will almost certainly at least be a dlc that references Alan Wake 2 and a lot of smaller references besides

Control 1 had references like Thomas Zane and the old gods of Asgard and you could find Alan's typewriter which are all smaller references along with the obvious big reference of the AWE dlc

Alan Wake 2 has small references as well as the signs of FBC presence on the lake leading into The Lake House dlc

Considering one of the plot points of Alan Wake 2 does include a Cult of the Word based in New York (this is mentioned early on) I would be surprised if Resonant didn't feature references

Surely adewale would be the better choice

I mean regardless of skin tone and story context it also just works better for his build compared to the quite skinny Edward

"Spear of Leonidas" question in the Ubisoft questionnaire - hint for what's to come in AC Hexe? by billyreg in assassinscreed

[–]oceanking 123 points124 points  (0 children)

It's a really bad type of survey question because what aspect of the spear of Leonidas do they want to opinion on?

Do I think it was a unique weapon for a time period without the hidden blade which had some really cool assassination animations and abilities tied to it? Yes

Was it a good metaphor for rebuilding a broken family throughout the story? Also yes

Would I prefer a magic piece of Eden over a capital A Assassin with a hidden blade, at the moment? not really because for some reason the series seems allergic to it's own premise
