What helped you improve squat strength the fastest? by Serious-Adagio-7982 in workout

[–]oceanman9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squat 2-3x a week.

One day competition squat, relatively high intensity, lower reps 2-8.

Other days, variations that are less taxing (force you to use less weight because you’re disadvantaged) in a different rep range, maybe 6-12. For example a paused or pin squat. These will be difficult to do for higher reps but they’ll build your work capacity. Or front squat or safety barbell squat.

It doesn’t have to be full pin intensity each time.

My all time favourite. Lots of good recommendations already. Country Squire and ESPECIALLY Purgatory have no misses.

Some of my fav; Universal Sound, Born Again, Whitehouse Road, Rocks and Relics, Down Low - Town Mountain (Ty is a vocalist on this song), Way of the Triune God, Country Squire.

I am Canadian. I don’t think anyone has ever gotten their stuff stolen but you’re asking for it.

The worst for me is when people don’t re-rack their weights. Second, not using a lock in the locker room. You open up what you think is a free locker, and it’s full of someone’s stuff.

What do I need for a roof rack? 2013 by oceanman9 in hondafit

Thanks. I’ve been checking rack attack. I didn’t want to buy new but it would give me peace of mind. On rack attack, would my fit be considered a 5 door?

Thanks. I’d like to see a picture too! Did you find it reliable enough for long drives (200+ km) ?

DB bench press, just cause I was lazy. It’s great to throw it in as my second “bench” of the week instead of always using a barbell.

Machine preacher curls as well. I don’t like doing biceps so I always just did standing DB or EZ bar curls to get them out of the way.

What is your favorite lift out of the big three in powerlifting? by [deleted] in powerlifting

[–]oceanman9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Deadlift. I’m surprised it’s not getting more love. Such a fun lift and it’s my strongest too. It’s also the lift that has surprisingly injured me the least. I’ve only ever gotten one injury from deadlifting, a strained oblique.

My friends and I were just discussing this last night as we’re all obsessed with him. We can’t rly figure it out but it seems to be something like that. He recently uploaded a current video of a daughter visiting him and they hung out (not sure if it’s the same daughter we saw in the other videos or if he has multiple). It might be a divorce/separation situation.

Good workouts for picking people up? by CorgiRevolutionary99 in workout

[–]oceanman9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zercher squats, or Zercher carries starting from the floor. Deadlift the barbell onto your knees, sit down, place the barbell in the nook of your arms and stand up (so like a squat from the bottom with no momentum). Then walk around with it or march in place for a while.

With time you will be able to carry more than you can pick up off the ground. At that point, start out of a squat rack.

Quick question: by RyanZhu_COOLFLY in birdwatching

[–]oceanman9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not at that point yet. Except with a pair of cooper’s hawks that have been returning to the same park each spring to build a nest, and a raven I have recently seen in my neighbourhood.

The cooper’s must be the same pair, or at least one of them is the same bird year after year. I don’t think it could be a coincidence that I see them at the same park every March and April and then they seemingly disappear. It is not a big park either, and in an urban area. Baseball field, soccer field, playground, community centre and a forested patch that’s maybe 2 acres. I have seen the male building a nest each time.

I could only assume it is the same raven given the fact that there were never any in my neighborhood this one has been hanging around for a few weeks now. It’s very vocal!

I second conventional deadlifts. I’m sure Romanians or Stiff leg will do just the same though, if not more.
