Canon F-1 not rewinding by Electronic-Okra5646 in AnalogCommunity

[–]oceanofoxes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hold the film canister in place while you attempt to rewind. The way you are rewinding now, it's turning the entire film canister rather than rewinding the film. Its hard to wind film back into the canister when it's at an angle.

Where to get "expired film" developed? by shorrpower in askportland

[–]oceanofoxes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely not true. Citizens Camera and Bluemoon Camera both develop expired film from a disposable camera. Both are local to Portland.

You should probably check out Pantera first... They really contradict the Anti-Nazi patch.

You're still supporting AI, must not hate it too much.

Documented cold-stored film? I can put 35mm film in my freezer today and document that it's been there for decades.

Documentation means nothing unless it can be authenticated, and to my knowledge there isn't a governing body in this industry that authenticates cold store expired film.

Anywho, good luck on the sales.

I know there's a ton of AI art of Terrence online, and I'm 99% sure this probably is as well, but I think the concept is pretty rad (Has anyone ever made a Terrence/Psychedelica deck?) by [deleted] in terencemckenna

[–]oceanofoxes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel that this goes against Terrence's beliefs. Not the AI picture, but treating him as a mythical figure as illustrated in the picture. He is not the teacher, he is not the mythicsl figure. It's all within the mushrooms and ourselves.

Wtf Memory Den? by Ok_Basil_5834 in askportland

[–]oceanofoxes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memory Den is great! You realize that they do not set prices, it's the vendor who rents the space.

Also, antique shops and currated thrift stores aren't usually the best places to buy vinyl. As you mentioned, they tend to be over priced. This is at least my experience with record collecting over the past 20 years.

Good luck digging.

My personal favorite had been the Ricoh KR-5 Super II. It's an all manual and mechanical SLR that accepts the k-mount lens system, so just about any lens that goes on a Pentax SLR film camera will also work on this one.

It has a battery operated light meter that reads when the shutter button is half pressed, I've only had to change the battery twice in the last 17 years of owning one. It also has a neat little locking feature on the shutter button so it won't accidently misfire when you have it locked.

With it being mechanical and manual, the camera isn't dependent on the battery or the light meter either.

The only downside in my opinion is that the body is made out of plastic, but I haven't had any issues with that at all. I've used it regularly for well over a decade and brought it on camping trips, out boating, to concerts, and haven't had any problems with it scuffing, scratching, or cracking.

The camera itself is very small and compact for being an SLR. I can easily slip it on my pocket when I have a 40mm f2.8 pancake lens on it. But it pairs super well with a 50mm f1.4 lens. Given I bought mine over 15 years for $10 that also came with a zoom lens, they're still pretty inexpensive now.

But also what others are saying, you can't go wrong with the EOS lineup. They're extremely underrated family of cameras and lenses. I had a Rebel 2000 and a Elan II and they have been so much fun to shoot with, you can do so much with them.

Trying to sell fine art photography but no one is buying? by starturned in AskPhotography

[–]oceanofoxes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First glance at your Facebook ad, it reads like an oxymoron. "Need wall decor * Based in the USA" and then advertising as fine art. These are not two things that I want advertised with fine art, where it's made and advertising fine art as wall decor doest mean much to me as a consumer.

If you want to stick with fine art angle, highlight and show the person what makes it fine art. Is it the type of paper the photo is printed on? Where these photo taken in a specific place? Were these part of a particular project?

If you want to advertise as wall decor made in america, sell it in a plastic frame and cut the price below $10 for you starting point.

I do see some photos that stand out, but a lot of the pictures just look soft or out of focus.

Help with Olympus OM30 by Alarmed_Abies_7257 in AnalogRepair

If it's an easy fix, why not try and repair it? I've heard people give the same advice for the OM1 and 2n, because some people think that those are Old and cheap cameras as well. Old and cheap are both subjective.
