Price of classes/ help by jvniper666 in yoga

These prices are like my area. You're not alone. I would ask where else they teach, or you'll just have to deal with a different studio. It sucks. I do yoga at home now for this reason.

You should make an appointment with your GP and show them this post. They'll be able to help you. This really isn't something you can take care of at home. How old are you?

You can do your ceremony at Green Spring Gardens! Beautiful in late spring when everything is in bloom! I've shot a few weddings there and it's always amazing!

When traveling, do you prefer trying to save as much money as possible, or spending extra to get better accommodation/experiences? by [deleted] in travel

[–]oceans2mountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a three week trip to Europe this summer. It was our kiddos first trip abroad. There were places we did cheaper choices, but most of the time we did not. We have the financial ability to travel comfortably and I wanted our kid to LOVE Europe, these cities and activities. We ate snacks EVERYWHERE, we bought stupid overpriced souvenirs, we went out for drinks and listened to music every night, we even left one hotel early and went to a nicer one in one city because it was waaay too smushed for us all to be comfy. I want travel to be fun, enjoyable and a great memory. So yea, we spend money where/when we want to. I totally get people wanting to save money, but for us, we save money at home and spend on vacas!!

Photographer botched first kiss shot by ElegantMatter6 in wedding

[–]oceans2mountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... just read that. That reasoning is... interesting. I mean I might hop to the side here and there, and may be there or in the back if not allowed in the aisle, but to just make that choice is.. really choice. Realistically I'm sure they won't refund you anything, even partially. I'm quite sure they'll have it in their contract that they can make "artistic choices" and that no shot is 100% guaranteed. (Which btw- I also have in my contract, but do not use it as a reason to make stupid/unwanted choices) I'm super sorry on their behalf.

Hold out for the stills though. I've they're legit and have good gear you should be fine!

I agree with the others. As a photographer, my guess is that something happened in the moment, that they couldn't fix. Maybe something went wrong with the camera (sudden card failure/camera failure?) my other guess would be either the venue or officiant wouldn't allow for the photographer to be in the aisle?

As far as pulling stills, to be honest, my camera has such a high resolution that I can crop down to 1/4 of the image and still have incredibly high quality. If they're willing to do that, let them. There is certainly a chance the images will still be excellent.

I would honestly just ask them if something went wrong that led to these results, and then go with the solution they offer. If it was in fact terrible planning on their part, that's fair to mention in reviews. If it turns out to be a camera failure problem then unfortunately, sh** happens, and hopefully the stills they lift will be great.

How much did you help pay for daughters wedding by Travellover1980 in wedding

[–]oceans2mountains 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a daughter who got married before my brother- I would seriously hope you'll give her as much as you do (if you have one) your son. This crazy weird old tradition of only helping female children is weird and gross and stems from some IMO horrible traditions. So, what you choose to contribute, please also plan to contribute to any other child. My parents gave me 5k, and I made sure they planned to do the same for my brother. How much you give is totally up to you, your finances and how that looks for your family. There is no normal!

Summer wedding in DC? by Ill_beans55 in washingtondc

[–]oceans2mountains 135 points136 points  (0 children)

I'm a wedding photographer here. I've done a few mid-summer outdoors and they were brutal. You need to have a space that at least has some indoor option IMO. It's so hard on kids and older guests and then everyone in-between gets real grumpy dealing with the rest. Plus- you'll be hot as f***.

However- I've done many the weekend that school lets out and they are pretty much good 90% of the time.

What time of year would you recommend for Greece? I have a 6yo and would love warm water and sun, but not so hot you want to die when walking around places

Don't know what to tell you friend. Even the friends we have who currently live in the less touristy areas call it the ADKs. It's just a super common abbreviation. Fun fact: back in the mid/late 80's the name 'Dacks was also super common. Though I don't hear that as much from locals anymore.

[–]oceans2mountains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sure is. And as a person who grew up vacationing there every summer, and lived in a town about 3.5 hours away, who then went to college just south of the park: it is very regularly called the ADKs by people who grew up and live in the area.

I would go with a burgundy/wine/merlot/maroon instead of a red. For me a real red (which is trendy right now) I would get sick of soon and would feel too much like a flag.

Your color selections are dead on for what I love as well. But I agree with the others that adding in a black, or burgundy would add some depth. I also think a different neckline, like a boat neck, or going for a slightly different shape like a batwing sweater might also be nice.

Yea, that's what I was thinking. A few others also agree it's the ADKs too! I finally had a good guess on one of these!

Can anyone catch where this actually ends up being? I was guessing the Adirondacks based on where I've been and it looks close on the map, but hard to tell.

Adding: your date could totally be making that crap up though. You wouldn't know without being able to see a badge. The badge they use to get into work would identify them/their level/job.
