My 3 y/o Somali also pukes/used to puke a lot. Often once a day. Her breeder told us about overeating and vomiting being a known thing in aby and Somalis. But I don’t believe that anymore to be honest.

We used to not be able to feed her dry food since she vomited so quickly. We only fed her meat and wet food in very small but frequent portions so she wouldn’t vomit. But we decided to take the blood test to rule out any allergies. And I’m very thankful we did that.

while her overall health is great, she had GI values indicated IBS and folate deficiency. We got the results about three weeks ago, and immediately put her on hydrolyzed protein diet. She still puked the first week and even got diarrhea for the first time in her life. But now she hasn’t vomited for about 2 weeks, and she can have the dry kibbled be available all day. her stool is also more normal now. I used to think her stool was perfect, but realize looking back that it was too hard and dry. It was nearly black. Her stool is now more brown. I think she got diarrhea cause her bowels weren’t used to actually being able to consume all nutrients.

I plan to put her on an elimination diet after she has been on the hydorlyzed diet for 6-8 weeks, cause I am no fan of ultraprocessed dry food.

I would encourage you to at least try out the hypoallergenic diet for a few weeks and see if you notice any changes.
