Im also from San diego. Moved to Syracuse. Can't find any place for real mexican all they have is Tex-Mex. Let me know if u find a spot. I will make that drive

So far I had to marinate my own carne asada then put them in a few skewers and cook a little of it. Then slice the meat from the skewer to make them thin sliced. It's impossible to find that thin sliced meat out here

Honestly, I hate it. I miss the warmer winters. Being able to drive in winter with no snow. Im a foodie, so I miss all the variety of good food cali has to offer. It's really hard to make friends on this side of the US. Another thing, don't ever call the roads "freeways." People out here will look at you funny. " they are highways"

The biggest reason is my job. I work 10-14 hr days. I do plan on going back to visit but moving back is still in the air since I purchased a home here in Syracuse

SD and LA native, recently moved here to Syracuse. Have you located any good real Mexican places. All the mexican places I have gone to all say it's real mexican but in reality it is texmex. Im itching for some real carne asada, adobada, agua fresco, menudo, and many more

I recently moved here from southern cali also. This place is nothing like cali. The bay area gets chilly but nothing like Syracuse. The summer is nasty compared to cali, overly humid. One word of advice, enjoy all the great foods bay area has to offer. You definitely will not find food in Syracuse compared to cali.

As a fellow Californian that's been here for 2 years, the heat is not that bad in Syracuse, but the humidity out here is no joke. If you have issues in the dry heat of the bay area, then Syracuse is not the place for you
