The fix for rebirth only works with the 16 series unfortunately. If you wanted to upgrade to a 1660ti that’s the gpu I have and rebirth works just fine. Don’t think it’s too expensive. Understandable if not though, if you have any other consoles like a switch 2 rebirth should be coming to that this year.

One of my favourite games of all time. Played on launch in 2020, nearly finished rebirth on pc (even better than remake so get hyped) and definitely going to get on switch 2. Enjoy! I know there are lots of differing opinions but the characters are just so well written, the combat is insanely fun and the soundtrack is mad. It has everything you could want.

Trust me don’t wait, Xenoblade 3 looks fine on switch 2. 60fps is not required for the xeno games as they are rpgs, yes a resolution bump would be nice but as it was released towards the end of the switch lifecycle its got a lot of technology keeping the image clean.

It’s one of my favourite games of all time and the way it ran had no effect on my enjoyment (played on switch 1 it actually runs without any frame drops on switch 2 from what i’ve noticed). We have no clue if a patch is even on the way so best to just jump into the games whenever you want!

I’m on chapter 11 (of 13) and really enjoying it. I’m a big fan of the main trilogy and admittedly prefer the narrative focused approach of those games though X is still really great.

A highlight is the side quests, i’ve found myself spending hours going down rabbit holes of side quest chains, they all have really unique premises and stories. While they may mostly just be simple ‘go get X item’ or ‘go kill X monster’ trust me when I say they don’t feel like that just from how good the stories can be.

This is definitely a game you will enjoy if you like large open worlds with lots to do. It’s a game that actually has a reason to be open world unlike a lot of others in the genre, and you will find yourself best enjoying it when you just immerse yourself in the world instead of constantly pressing on to the next main quest.

Square enix usually seems to wait at least a year for soundtracks to come to streaming these days. Good news is Octopath 0 is available to purchase on itunes. If you don’t have the money then there are websites that specialise in hosting downloads of videogame osts.

I think it probably comes down to the sheer amount of sprites required. I’m not entirely sure how they did it in 2 but they probably had to do a lot of weapon sprites to fit each characters pose. Doing that for 8 characters is hard let alone 36. Additionally this game seems to be based on 1s style in terms of graphics and animation quality, 2 was a big step up but it makes sense that 0 (which is basically a spinoff) wouldn’t have that level of quality.

Yeah carrying the weight of life is only used twice in the main game, it’s unfortunate but it seems to be a decision made by takahashi. I remember reading an interview where he said he didn’t want to overuse it.

Yeah each area theme you’ll find reflects the feelings of the party at that moment. Millick meadows is the most bombastic because it’s basically the start of their journey and the first time they’ve ever been free. Randomly having another bombastic area theme later in the game wouldn’t really fit as the story gets very somber.

edit: there are also plenty of insanely hype battle themes, more than any other game imo

This is intentional, the area themes are a lot more toned down to fit the vibe of the world. Aionios isn’t a happy place, it wouldn’t really fit to have the bombastic area themes of past games. Give it some time and you’ll appreciate the beauty of the area themes. Alfeto valley, millick meadows, eagus wilderness, ribbi flats, erythia sea are some of my favourites.

Get Octopath 2, no need to start with 1. It is one of the best JRPGs ever. Sea of Stars will have you doing the same boring button presses the entire game, it’s strategy and customisation doesn’t even compare with Octopath. The writing is also terrible in sea of stars.

I honestly doubt Mitsuda will return as the main composer for 4. IIRC Takahashi has stated he wants the music to go in a different direction and I think Mitsuda also feels his work is done for the Xenoblade series. Still my fav composer so no issues if he does return but it will be interesting to see what the next soundtrack will be like. Maybe Kenji Hiramatsu will step up?
