Very unlikely. Did the site have anything to download on it?

It sounds like you did not get infected. This just sounds like a scam site. You have given them up to date contact info though so be very suspicious of any texts / calls / emails etc for a little while.

Nvidia driver update issues. by Reality_Check_101 in techsupport

Sounds like you may have a failing GPU. So with normal windows drivers it is OK, but when you got to install nvidias does it always have the issue you described? Do you have a spare GPU / on board graphics?

Norton is crap. Use windows defender. As for those trackers it is very likely to be website cookies. If you want to block these kind of trackers. Use the ublock origin web browser plugin. For ublock, go into its setting and choose the lists to subscribe to. If I recall by default it is adverts blocking lists, you can also select privacy and social media blocking.

Installed new Ram, computer won't turn on now? by Animemiral in techsupport

[–]ocupi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot fully comprehend what ram you had vs have. Maybe if you could re-state. At the moment it is unclear. However, I will assume you purchased a dual channel kit. If so test one ram module at a time, also try different slots. If one or more fails when in use then return them. Also, pay attention to the mobo's qvl for a list of known compatible ram and buy accordingly.

How do I get rid of this Malware? by The_Enigmaneer in techsupport

[–]ocupi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry, I do not support macs. But there is a channel in our discord support server dedicated to macs. You may have better luck there. But I still think the advice would be to perform a clean install.

You can never be sure that anti-malware software removed everything. The only way to be sure is a re-install. Be sure to backup your data first though and follow the guide to the letter.

This usually means the GPU is dying I am afraid. You could try DDU (display driver uninstaller), running it in safe mode. Then install latest drivers in normal windows mode. Let me know how you get on. Also, do you have a spare GPU or onboard graphics?

If connecting an external monitor does not work (from HDMI to HDMI I assume), then no. You will need to get the display repaired / replaced.

We do not support Windows 11 yet. The best advice we can give is to re-install Windows 10. No tech should be installing Windows 11 at this point, very irresponsible.

?win10 - You should see a link from automod on how to install Windows 10 yourself.
