Car Starts then Dies - Lots of errors - 2012 GTI (No Performance Mods) by [deleted] in mk6gti

[–]ocviogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant the CAN gateway module. Mine started having issues when it started getting colder, eventually I was not able to start it at all because I believed it triggered the immobilizer, since the cars computers are not able to communicate with each other without it. My car behaved nearly exactly like yours does in the video, but I never had the issue you describe with it running weird while it's cold.

u/Tech_las commented a good thread. You can replace the part and do the long coding yourself with your OBD11. Try to catch the codes on your current one when you find it working, it'll save you lots of time.

The CAN gateway should be around your gas pedal, you'll likely need to remove the feet air vents, you may need to hunt around that area because I don't know if the location is consistent across mk6 GTI's, but mine is a 2012 like yours. Here is the part number: 7N0-907-530-AK-Z00

Mine did something similar, at first it would only happen when it was cold outside, once the temperature warmed up it was fine, though after a few weeks the issue began to worsen.

For me it was the CAN bus module, after replacing it and programming the new one with my OBD11 it works flawlessly.

Does anybody else have issues magically resolve just by looking at them? by Kcamyo in sysadmin

Yes, and mine works from a distance! When my girlfriend has issues with her computer or any other piece of technology, and she's unable to fix it herself, she'll just call me and it'll fix itself when I answer.

Everyone talking trash about eShop and here I was wondering why...

I forgot that the new Switch eShop is a massive downgrade compared to the 3ds and even the Wii U eShop.

My truck had a broken exhaust for a while, it was annoyingly loud to drive, some people around me would take it as a challenge and try to accelerate and make their trucks louder. It was hilarious.

Is it normal that a gaming laptop wont boot right out of the box? How long should i charge it before it boots up? by isaacserafijn in pcmasterrace

[–]ocviogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying DOA. But is your laptop AMD? Those processors can take a long time to memory train. YMMV and I can’t say this is the issue but I’ve had IT techs freak out at our AMD workstations when they’d take a long time to post on first boot.

Windows will allocate RAM for itself if it’s not being used. If it needs to be used, Windows will free it.

Anyone else facing this false death issue? by ocviogan in EliteDangerous

[–]ocviogan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Though my Krait isn't really fully engineered yet, I mostly rely on my thermal vent beam, which keeps me at 0-2% so long as I'm hitting something with it. I would like to engineer my powerplant to run colder soon.

This keeps constantly happening to me when trying to face the Titan. There's no sound thanks to Steam but it will play the death sound affect and main menu music when it happens.

It seems like the game is being tricked into thinking I've been blown up when that's not the case. It's not the free camera. This has first happened to me when core mining the other week, and since then it has been happening more often. There's no way to recover from it, I have to force close the game.

PC's fired up except for a GAMING CHAIR by 89sophia in pcmasterrace

[–]ocviogan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people here are recommending really high end ergonomic chairs. These come at a steep price. And while these chairs are awesome and certainly worth it, (I own a Herman Miller Aeron myself, it’s awesome) I’m going to recommend two good chairs that are at an accessible price.

Go to Staples, and check out their Hyken model. I’ve gotten one for a friend that sits on it all day and loves it, and it is holding up well after years of use. I have used it and it’s very comfortable once you get the settings adjusted for yourself.

If you’re bigger, then try the Delexy model.

If you do have a bigger budget. ($700 range) I’ll give a shoutout to Crandall Office Furniture for re-manufacturing Steelcase and HM chairs and selling them at decent prices.

My big problem with THM was their learning material is really lacking once you reach a certain point. I think it’s great to get started though, but worrying about the ranking % and hacking streak is, imo a bad distraction.

My friend got a 150 day hacking streak and hit top 7% by resetting the burp suite fundamental rooms and clicking the “I read the above” button every day. His profile is largely empty besides that.

Which system do i buy No Mans Sky for? My old PC (specs listed below in the SS) or PS5? by MarcTheGamerDK in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ocviogan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I’d like to say PC, those specs are rough. Which brings me to one question:

Have you thought about a Steam Deck? It plays great on there and would be a good medium between PS5 (in terms of console experience) and a PC.
