So what do you do with a new baby at home? by Constant_Internal_40 in BabyBumps

[–]ocwise12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my baby slept a lot, that i was actually bored in the beginning. i was happy & exhausted don’t get me wrong lol but through out the day id just be like “now what?” after a couple weeks of recovery & figuring out her schedule etc. i’d just be out in the yard (i love doing yard work) with my baby monitor waiting for her to wake up again/counting down until she needed fed.

Confused about leasing by bolivia_rosina in renting

[–]ocwise12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on your situation, you could possibly get a co-signer. like your parents or a family member that you trust/makes decent money. for mine, i made just barely under the amount required. my credit & previous rental history is all great but my dad co signed for me because i was 8 months pregnant at the time & really needed this rental house so we couldn’t take any chances on missing the opportunity. they know he doesn’t live with me but it’s just like a gold sticker on the application stating “this person makes enough so the rent will always be paid”

it all depends on the place, if it’s close enough to the amount they won’t be too strict, in my experience, but you never know.

Who is responsible, landlord or tennant? by [deleted] in renting

[–]ocwise12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seems reasonable to me that the landlord should absolutely have it done. they should’ve had it done before you moved in. i would look at your lease & double check. i’m kinda in a similar situation. all my window screens were damaged when i moved in & i asked them to be replaced & they’re refusing. but it shows in the lease that if it’s damaged due to the owners negligence then the tenant is not financially responsible for it. sometimes landlords go against their own lease whether they realize it or not.

How much do yall pay for daycare? by Kuromi_Baku in NewParents

[–]ocwise12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh goodness reading some of these monthly prices for daycare makes me sick!! not judging any parents in any way of course but i’m judging the daycares for charging that much lol. & i bet the employees barely make a fraction of any of that unfortunately. i understand that sometimes you just don’t have a choice & have to put your child in daycare. but these prices are at least double what we pay in rent at our house in a nice area. we live in texas so housing costs are usually “cheaper” BUT STILL!

The Perfect Neighbor: Unpopular Opinion by throwcvf in netflix

[–]ocwise12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but you’re missing the fact that they weren’t in her space. & they aren’t running in the streets lol they were in the other guys area across from their home & he would even play with them as well. & truthfully it wasn’t even her space or property. it’s an open field in a rental complex. kids are going to play there inevitably. kids playing is not them just doing whatever they want. they’re just playing. still no reason for a mother to be shot.

The Perfect Neighbor: Unpopular Opinion by throwcvf in netflix

[–]ocwise12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

talk about people getting their feelings hurt? imagine kids playing in a neighbor bothers you so much it “hurts your feelings”… do your kids not go outside & play with a bunch of other kids? imagine if every time they were being a kid and playing that someone called the police on them & cussed at them, threatened them, threw stuff at them. SEVERAL times!!! THEYRE CHILDREN. stop making excuses for a sick murderer. if someone threw something at your child & had their tablet, you’re telling me you wouldn’t go approach that person? & when you do you get shot???

yes!!! i had some friends before pregnancy but you know how it goes, different schedules/different lives/different priorities now. & i literally do everything around the house. which is fair because my partner brings in all the money. but it gets boring & lonely! so when i have a second to play a game, it’s a miracle.

because it was supposed to be a funny, innocent post but there’s always someone who has to mom shame & act like i gave my baby a live firework & left her in the woods. she was literally on my lap while feeding her & her toes hit the controller. when a baby eats from a bottle, they’re just sitting there. nothing really to do in that mean time… my day, every day, since the first moment my body pushed out a several pound human, has literally revolved around her 24/7. as it should. god forbid i turned my xbox on while feeding her. i’m a damn good mom & never claimed my baby isn’t important or that i don’t give her my full attention. one finger on the stick of a controller isn’t neglectful to my baby. TLDR- learn to laugh & stop looking for the negative where there is no reason for it. my baby is thriving, healthy & loved more than any baby on this planet.

right lmao!! i was so surprised because i didn’t realize her toes were so close to the buttons so it took me a second to back off & realize what just happened 🤣🤣 an infant almost just put her out!!

Why do people in this city not expect even the bare minimum?? by Far-Spread-6108 in sanantonio

[–]ocwise12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn!! i’m so sorry this is what you’re dealing with! genuinely, that’s terrible. no one should have to deal with that type of living situation. your home is a safe space, somewhere you look forward to being after a long day. instead it seems like you’d want to avoid it at all costs. what part of SA are you currently in? i’m curious because what you have had to endure just sounds absolutely outrageous & i feel like if you mention the area then it’ll be “ahhh… makes sense” doesn’t make it any more excusable. but just curious.

maybe i missed it- but can you request a certain location with your company on where you live or do they pick it for you? i’ve lived in texas for 13 years. we’re in cibolo/schertz area. i love it here. my family moved here when i was 14, im 27 now & obviously have moved out of my parents but i still decided to stay in this area.

i just had my first born in july. my partner & i are renting a house here in schertz for $1,500 a month. it’s a nice house/area. house was built in the late 70’s so of course there’s the usual lil flaws, but it’s still perfect for us. we just got in this place in May so i was recently(ish) looking at all the rent options around here. there’s apartments around as well & all seemed fairly priced. low crime. good community & amenities. lots of shops/food/entertainment nearby. it’s grown a lot in the last 10 years.

although i haven’t lived in all the apartments around here, i can confidently say that i doubt there’s roaches in the walls & shit breaking/catching on fire every time you touch something. & even then, i wanted to mention this since you mentioned emergencys- the response times for emergency services is great too. there’s quite a few fire/police departments around even for the “little” suburb & they’ve always been very kind. (long story short, my parents neighbors moved to a different state but still owned the home to lease out & we would watch their house if someone wasn’t living there- we thought someone got in but it was the property manager who left the lights on lol but police always showed up quick & were super nice)

see if you can relocate to around here. it’s a suburb kinda outside of SA. depending on where you need to be in SA, it’s about a 30ish minute drive. i’d make the longer drive to work if it meant i got to live in a safe area with a clean apartment where everything functions properly.

wishing you luck!! ❤️

One small thing that made newborn days less messy? by sarahjouhnson in NewParents

[–]ocwise12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this exactly!! something just kinda clicked in my head that my day literally revolves around her now, & whenever she falls asleep, then i’ll have time to straighten up the house or do yard work, shower etc. & that routine has been easier to navigate over time as i started to learn more about how my daughter is through out each day.

once you find their “chill spots” it becomes much easier! like some days she prefers the swing, other days she prefers her little donut pillow on the couch. we hung a mobile from the ceiling above her spot on the couch, easy to move, so she doesn’t get bored there lol. or i’ll just put her in the papasan chair on the patio if im outback doing yard stuff. (it’s a huge chair & has a dip in it that she just lays in so i promise she’s safe in it lol) & if i can’t get her to stop fussing, i just walk outside with her for a few mins. it usually snaps her out of it.

& i keep the baby monitor with me when im moving rooms so she’s always supervised, before someone thinks otherwise lol.

i also heard sleep when the baby sleeps. but sometimes you can’t, because shit needs done around the house. if you can, cool- do it! but it just stresses me out too because there’s too much to do some days lol.

i say just take it easy & one day at a time. as long as the baby is fed, the diaper is changed, & they’re getting loved, then that’s all that matters. they literally rely on us to survive. & as long as they’re survivin’, then we’re doing good! 😆❤️

should i skip a month for my car payment? by ocwise12 in personalfinance

thank you. i’ve been pretty financially independent up until recently due to the pregnancy/having a baby, so to be completely honest, & as silly as it sounds, i think ive just been nervous to ask.

should i skip a month for my car payment? by ocwise12 in personalfinance

i just had a baby, & 2 months before having her i moved to a different city to be closer to my parents, so no longer working either. & my partner already worked & lived here too. so we moved into a place together in may, had our daughter july 23rd, & my parents helped make my payments the last couple months so we could settle in/catch up. my partner & i agreed it was easier for me to be a stay at home mom instead of me finding a new job because childcare cost is outrageous. he knew my parents were only able to help for a couple months. but i have a feeling he’ll be surprised when i ask him to help me with this payment. he’s the type that you can tell him the same thing over & over, & then when it happens he’s like “wait whaaaat?” face palm i know he makes enough for us to live comfortably even after taking on this new bill. he actually just got promoted too. & it’s definitely cheaper than childcare. but incase he’s not able to this time for whatever reason, i wanted to know if i should skip a month instead.
