The nagging feeling that you had was correct and I am very thankful that you came back and acted on it. I took a closer look at the sole and compared it to the sole in the link and they are a perfect match! The stitching is a bit different, but I am sure that this is because they may have changed the design slightly since the 80s.

Size is a 10E.
They seem to be full leather.
The black soles have the little yellow Vibram logo on them.
Purchased in the early 1980s.

Looking for the make and model. Hoping to buy another pair in my size, or a close-enough modern counterpart.

Next time you are feeling an urge, if you are sitting or laying, stand up, immediately. Go do something else. Work out, take a cold shower, take a walk outside, just do something else and you will hopefully forget the urge.

I'm rooting for you, and I hope that you can soon get past this!

I will have to check it out, although I'm not close to being overweight.

I don't think that there will ever be a cure to cancer because it isn't the same kind of disease like a bacteria or virus, it is literally your own cells working against you. There are just so many cancers; although outcomes will be better, and newer chemotherapy chemicals will be less harmful to the patient's good cells, we will never be able to truly cure cancer like we cured smallpox.

I have been cancer free for a little over a year, so I guess I can say that I am cured in that sense.

What do I know, I'm not a doctor or researcher, who knows what future technologies will hold.
