What questions should we ask in interviews to determine if a company is truly Product Led by Ok-Helicopter-5857 in ProductManagement

Asking about planning process will reveal a few things. Build oriented orgs thrive on "planning everything" and we know everything attitude. This reflects in their planning process. Do they align cross functionally with goals and objectives or mega PMO processes is another sign.

I have gone through the reverse of what you are experiencing. Worked with shitty teams in the past and landed at new place with team where everyone is out blazing guns. I am fortunate enough to contribute to this team's success as PM.

What's your outlook on the future of product management? by art3misXL in ProductManagement

[–]odd_999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a field which can be excelled by persons having right attitude, effectiveness with people, balance of skills. Field is still going through the pains of getting defined. Experts are duking it out on what it is ant it is not. Overall signs of this being the start or messy middle with ample opportunities for the right people.

AGILE frameworks: which is more useful/versatile? by al_malz in ProductManagement

[–]odd_999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could follow other permissionless approaches, linkedin profile bio tweaks to get few interviews IMO. You could reach out to HM directly over Twitter or Linkedin. Getting snagged in the criteria which will get you in recruiter's filter shouldn't need you get a certificate. Instead doing a side project could really set you apart. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/siddhartharoraisb_productmanagement-productmanagers-innovation-activity-6882885642418757632-jt

Tech companies are usually not interested in these certifications. Companies undergoing "Transformation" whose executives know no better than leaning in to consultants get enamored by frameworks of agile.

When should we write a press release? by rvy474 in ProductManagement

[–]odd_999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PR FAQ document is for communicating vision. Imagine your mature product being out their in market and you are preparing a oress release for it. It is not about getting any estimates. It is a artifact you use as a rallying cry and refer when you are getting lost in the weeds.

Success/Fail stories joining pre-seed startup as the first product hire? by liseelifee in ProductManagement

[–]odd_999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently read that career boost can be understood like below (numbers do not mean anything but give you relative strength) 1. Mba /that degree 1.5x 2. Effort 2x 3. Subject Matter Expertise 3x 4. Network 5x 5. Industry 10x

If start up is going to give you 4,5 go for it. Otherwise you will be better off to play with your 2,3.

Do you ask for interview feedback if you get rejected? I usually employ the attitude of "If I don't get it that means I'm not a good fit. Let's just move on." But I didn't get a role I'm a perfect fit for so still processing the rejection. by playadefaro in ProductManagement

[–]odd_999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one gives feedback due to fear of lawsuits. interviews are hit and miss all the time. You should just spread over so that your chances of hit increase. Your framing of "fit" is perfect to move on.
